message: Trailer Brakes turned Off

Yes odd system and something I will now check before driving off. About 2 years ago when we got the RV we set up brake control for electric under 4999 lbs and 3.5 gain which was perfect. It memorized and kept that setting for the past 8 camping trips until last weekend.

Camper is only 3340 lbs dry weight and what we had on-board probably took it up to 4k our normal load out. I had a senior moment on one trip and forgot to plug in the 7 pin cord, and truck didn't even notice. Wife asked the question 5 miles into the trip so I pulled over and checked, and sure enough.

Last weekend we pulled out a little heavier with 10 gallons in fresh tank and I squeezed brake control to test trailer brake and nothing happened. I'm on trailer brake page and notice it says electric over hydraulic and zero gain. I'm dicking around on that page while driving and I can't change anything. I go down to gain and bump it up to 3.5, and brakes start to work, however I knew the setup needed to be electric brakes.

Drove about 7 miles and pulled over in a layby and googled how to change settings.

Moral of story ... trailer setup is in vehicle settings and I don't know why initial setup was dumped.
