cost vs performance...LT is amazing if u have the funds(20k + or so) and it def is a jump up even from my ridiculous set up..but i ride nice, i have full ability to tune and i can still hit good size whoops around 40-60mph and my set up was less than half the cost
    front c/o-1400
    front bypass-1400
    uca- 700
    bumps 500
    shock hoop/guessets 600
front total 4600$( i didnt include the cost of fiberglass because u dont need it on MT, i added it after one of my accidents that destroyed my right front fender, but with LT you must purchase glass)

    rear bypass 1400
    camburg kit 400
    bumps 500
    bump mounts 500
    deavers 800
    rear total 3600$

so 8200$ total for my truck..... just todo LT front is close to 10k

the total chaos long travel kit is 3500 and thats without axles, shocks, bypassess, or bumps

and my truck will run laps around the glassed out rangers and silverados that just have long arms coilovers and smooth bodies in the rear :rofl:

Well put. Price is definitely the main issue for most!
I really like the 3.0 setups everyone has been doing. Paired with secondary up front and trips in the rear you can definitely have fun!
Yielding the travel is key for both MT and LT. What are you pulling up in front?

He doesn’t have front Axles to worry about, but I think a 4x4 LT V8 is a deadly combo.

    that silverado is siiccckkkkk
heres on of my buddies fully LT 4x4 tundra hes on the forums here @osidepunker
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1dAPDrtDGw

one of the big things ive found between my set up and LT is the ability to ease into the big bumps going fast...the LT guys are soft and you feel more controlled until u get up to your speed where u just skim over the tops...with my set up its a lil bit of a rougher ride getting to that speed but once im there its floats just the same

i am pulling 12.8inches of travel up front and 14in the rear

Alex has one sick ass tundra!

It's a tough decision. A lot of extra money on top for the LT to yield a little over 3" (based on TC kit) over your current setup. Even the thought of making a spare axle would be pricey, Shafts alone hit us at $500+? then tear apart an OEM to fit it. Like you said Performance vs. Cost is the main thing to consider. Every time I mention MT to the owner of the Silverado it turns into a debate, about cost etc. I like to hear the MT side, If pulling 13" is what I can get at nearly half the cost I think that's a win in my book.

as much as I like LT, is the Tundra the right platform for it ? vs a Tacoma for example. Sure it's no V8 but the Tacoma is a lot lighter. just my 0.02.
and like you said, that's a lot of money on the Tundra to go LT.

its a perfect platform..LT tacoma is 13in of travel thats what i am getting with MT..the LT tundras get 16-17in and align beautifully. also while weight does make it easier to get better performance out of maybe jsut a c/o and bumps on the taco....most trophy truck weigh in around the tundra weight....so the lbs isnt really a deterring factor

we used to have that guy on the forum who spent insane amount of money on his Tundra to make it LT. He finally throw the towel and went Chevy.
Bandit was his name I think. Old timers should remember.
In any case I don't have the cash flow to play with LT. I got 3 kids to feed :)

silverados are awesome to LT cus they are like the glock of the offroad world, every company makes something for them, tons of used parts, tons of knowledge/trial/error, and most importantly......easy LS swaps

but the 4x4 is the key part....4x4 silverados only getting 12in of wheel travel

I think to each their own when it comes to this.
I think doing LT in the tundra is the way to go! Reliability of Toyota.. stay on track with your basic maintanence and take care of the LT components you have a very capable machine.

Now I am not one to bomb the desert, but if the opportunity arises I will try to push as much as I can. Going the the narrow rocky stuff is fun too. Those pucker moments get the heart pumping, and when it opens up I’ll try to get on the throttle a little more as well.

It is a lot of money. There are ways to cheap out. Swooping on a used kit. Busting your own knuckles. Piecing it slowly. But all reality you are doing for what you want to do.

Tacoma’s/4runner LT is our basic tundra MT. It’s 2 completely different worlds. 2nd/3rd Tundras don’t get out into tacomaworld- for us I’m talking slick rock, rubicon, and some dope iconic trails we have out here in nor cal.
(Those that do I mean no disrespect and I  to you guys that do)
