Awesome! I’d imagine the PNW crew would love to reserve a decent amount
    Can’t wait to try it!

NE brothers should come first. Don't they make syrup in the PNW?

Kidding but I am excited to get some this year since missing out last year.

There’s lots of great maples here in the PNW but apparently we are not able to generate sap suitable for syrup because of a lack of sustained low temperatures.
There’s been a lot of research and a lot of attempts based on what I’ve read.
    Oh well...

I need to drill me holes in about 150 of my buckets to fit the new taps I'm trying this year.
Some buckets are plastic so I'm not worried, the rest are galvanized metal. Any advice on what kind of bit to use? I need to drill a 1" diameter hole to fit over the 3/4" ridge on the new taps.
I was going back and forth between a hole saw and a step drill. I don't wanna break the bank bit need something that'll work well.

I would invest in a quality drill bit if you need to make that many holes in metal. You don't want the bit to get dull quickly as will happen with lower priced bits. As far as a good brand, I'm not sure, maybe others could recommend.

I have always used metal taps with a hook to hang the buckets. Some buckets have large enough holes for the new taps but most holes are only about 1/2". Heres a pic of the metal taps I have and the new seasonal plastic spouts. The new spouts are supposed to yield about 10% more sap than a reused tap. And they require 5/16" hole vs 7/16" so they are better for the tree. They are one time use, if they work well I will buy new ones every year. Research shows that microbes cause enough damage to reused taps that lessens the sap flow in both daily volume and how many days of sap flow you get per season.
The raised ridge on the new plastic tap is what holds the buckets on, no hooks at all. Reviews say they hold well up to 5 gallon sap buckets. Pretty impressive for plastic

I was looking at Irwin or Lennox hole saws, much more affordable than step bits.

I saw that one and figured it would be fine for the plastic buckets but wasnt sure about the galvanized ones. For that price it's worth a shot. Thanks

I love doing projects too. I like to keep busy and work with my hands. I'm a ER nurse in my work life but a handyman at heart, I like doing all kinds of construction work.

@Pudge - You should end each season auctioning off your last bottle to the highest bidder on here. I'm sure everyone on here is competitive and would be a good time, not to mention bragging rights for the winner.

Pricing will likely be the same as season 2.
We will be cutting the 12oz bottles from the lineup, other than whatever empty 12oz I have left in stock to fill up.

No list or signup yet. Itll be at least a month before I have any bottled up. I will offer first dibs to returning customers. Then open up sales to everyone as long as I have enough to sell. I have 3 local stores that I have to supply as well so I don't lose the accounts.
