Saturday we are doing a tour of the sugar house for people and their kids from town.
Gonna show them how we tap trees, collect sap, cook it and bottle it. I made it clear in the flyer that was sent out that there will be no syrup for sale this weekend.
I won't be selling any until orders here have been filled. Once those are done I'll take orders from the townspeople.

I sure did. It's a pain getting it all packed and shipped but well worth my time, you guys are my best and favorite customers. I appreciate it so much more than people who buy it, mark it up and stick it on a shelf this their store.

50 mph wind gusts coming across that field blew down a bunch of buckets. It's 37°,windy, rain and sleet. I took the rest down in that area and I'll rehang them tomorrow. Might lose some sap but would hate for a bucket to catch a gust and hit a car or something

No way I was. I saw posts of folks with like 10 bottles of this maple crack. I may have the biggest jugs (gigitty), but doubt I had the largest order LOL

I got geared up and went back out and took down a lot more buckets. Mostly ones near fields and roads, wind is supposed to be strong all night and the buckets can easily blow around, even pull the tap from the tree. The ones in the woods will be fine. We will have to head out in the morning and rehang buckets and replace any taps that get yanked out and lost. This wouldn't have been as big of a problem if the buckets had a decent amount of sap in them. Usually when we expect high winds we simply leave sap in buckets to keep them weighed down. Empty buckets are like a wind sock.
