    My order just arrived. I got 2 Jugs and 1 maple leaf. Everything was well packaged but the cap on the Maple leaf was not tight so it was a sticky mess. About a 1/4 of the bottle came out. At least it wasn't one of the jugs. It's all good, I'm just glad the glass was not broken. I tried it right out of the bottle and all I can say is WOW:D.That is by far the best Maple syrup I have ever tasted. Thank you Sean.

    I'm starting to worry about these maple leaf bottles. This is the second one that leaked. The caps were tight when I filled them buy they seem to not be staying tight. I wonder is it's because when I cap them, the bottles are Hot? I will be sure to retighten all of them before selling them from now on. I'm sorry this is happening. Glad you like the syrup though.

    That may be the case when you cap the bottle when hot. I tried the cap and it did turn quite a bit until it was tight. I'm not complaining, things do happen. At first I thought the bottle was cracked but it was only the cap.

    I appreciate the feedback. I do love those little bottles and they do make great gifts. It's intersting they had small leaks even if the caps were tight. I'll have to investigate this issue. I would hate to ditch any of the sizes I sell because they all do pretty well. I have considered only shipping plastic in the future just based on the labor of packing up the glass, but that's not set in stone at all.

    I'm wondering if the change in air pressure during shipment may have something to do with it. If a bottle is topped off. Something has to give...POSSIBLY

    That could be it. You wouldn't know by looking at the bottles but I actually fill every one of them to the very top with 190° syrup. As it cools it lowers the level quite a bit. The one thing i notice is the leafs get some air trapped in them because of all the nooks a d irregularities due to their shape, that could be an issue too. So maybe I shouldn't fill the leafs quite as much.

    I used to calibrate sight glass manometers that were used for determining small rocket motor thrust. The test fixture had a lot of nooks and crannies where air bubbles could hide. Small ones but added together totally threw off my measurements until I figured out what was up. In your case that air pocket that forms after topping off just might be the problem. Maybe you can get your supplier to provide beefier cap samples and then send me several test bottles for free. I would require about 50 gallons to be sure............possibly 75....:dancingbacon::broccoli::jellydance::kona::headbang::rimshot:

    I'm supposed to cap them hot and let them sit on their side to heat that little seal on the underside of the cap. Seems to work well except for the leafs. Maybe that little seal is defective?
