Oh, another thing to mention. When going with an aluminum radiator, be careful when you're under the hood if the engine has been running. I don't know how many time my forearm has touched the radiator when it's hot. I've been meaning to come up with a plastic guard or something to prevent it.

 

RE: Upgrades - Depends on how you want to use your truck and where you live.
I think @reywcms is running a relocation kit since he bajas. If you run through water/dust probably a good idea.
Radiator upgrade if your engine runs hot. I've not seen significant heat but I don't track/tow. Stock is overbuilt and more than enough IMO for my use case. I've seen people run the upgraded thermostat (lowers op temps to 180) and external oil coolers (more complexity).
Coolant tank if you are doing back to back runs to delay high IATs, catch is it will take longer to cool down once it is saturated. There is also killerchiller or the interchiller (think that is the correct name)

 

OK Thanks. So 440 (approx) for this radiator. Mishimoto just seems appealing for their lifetime warranty but I don't like their plastic mounting brackets... while CSF is all aluminum through and through with similar pricing to the Koy. Thanks.

I live in MD. Summers are 90-100 F highs with winters being 20ish F lows. Truck is used for hauling the family, dump runs, towing, trails in the area and camping, family vacations if we don't take our X5. Looking to buy a TT next year too - nothing huge, maybe 20-25ft LOA and no more than 7k gross weight.

My interpretations of your response (for my application)
- SAI relocation kit, not needed
- Aluminum Radiator, play by ear. Run stock and monitor temps. Replace/Upgrade if needed. No use spending money just to spend money.
- Billet Coolant Tank, stock tank with kit should be fine. Take action to replace/upgrade if needed.
- External oil cooler, not needed. I have OE tow pkg with my 13 and see no need for another external (or upgraded/larger) oil cooler

No need for your use case to run the secondary intake relocation kit from SDHQ. Only reason to do it is if you’re really offroading and have no fender liners. Save the money there.

As far as radiators I would also leave the stock unit in. The aftermarket ones break ALL THE TIME. Tabs, leaks at the welds etc. Everyone who’s had one I know has gone back to oem.

 

You can also order the radium single catch can plenty of areas to mount it. I found a few mounting points with my setup. You can see the bracket in the pic.

 

Roger that. I will retain the OEM Radiator and maybe replace the rubber hoses w silicone ones as the only upgrade there.

I plan to order the single radium can for the PCV side of things. Price isn't too bad and seems like a good preventative measure to keep oil out of the intake where it shouldn't be.

 

Prospeed just confirmed that they do not know if their catch can will fit anything other than the maggie 1900.

Yeah I agree. But I think their hoses are probably tailor fit for the maggie 1900 mounting location. I'm sure if you bought longer hoses then you could make it work... but kinda makes the 'kit' less of a 'kit'

I'm going to stick with radium's single catch can for now. Seems like a nice install spot with no fitment concerns.

 

Only concern with Radium is for folks running a Stillen intake; those folks need a bracket or way to shift over a few inches.

 

Same radium single bracket works just move it over is all. There's mounting holes there. The prospeed also vents to the atmosphere introducing moisture in the system which I didn't like.

 

Do people run stillen with the magnuson airbox that comes with their kits? I wasn't planning on changing the intake side of things that comes with their kit... but I do love me some cooler intake temps.

 

Folks have had fitment issues trying to adapt it to the Maggie box. You are probably better off with a SABM. I suspect you can pull off the Stillen with a cobrahead coupler but will probably be janky AF.

SABM with the maggy box but while you're in the intake side why not throw in a RCF throttle body lol. Just sayin @snivilous could whip up an adapter plate

how much more whp, realistically, can be expected by upgrading the TB to RCF?
if nominal then not worth it, IMO - for the price.

 

From the research prospeed said 30tq I believe. But many who test these positive displacement blowers say you want the biggest inlet possible no matter what Gale banks, Richard holdner etc.

I guess I will research that more over the next few weeks to see if it's worth doing. RCF TB appears (from quick searches) not to fit any 2650 blowers so an adapter would be required... and I guess this is why you said Snivilous can whip up an adapter plate for this.

Are you running stock TB? Or RC F TB?

 

The adapters aren't cheap though. The last ones I did (Harrop to RCF and Magnuson to LS) were like ~$200 and that was ordering 2x of them. Or if you have a local machinist I can just send you a CAD file if you send me dimensions.

 

That’s reasonable compared to any price I can find for the TB itself!

 

URD and Prospeed already makes adapters that should work for RCF to Maggie. Not that Sniv isn't the man, but they're shelf items.

 

That would be good if we know the new maggy is the same pattern etc..

 

RCF with a custom @snivilous adapter. Waiting on confirmation if we can get an LS 103mm to work since the whipple inlet is 102

 

If a stock TB bolts to it, I'd bet money an off the shelf adapter will work.

The off the shelf adapters don't care about inlet size, they're made to bolt an RCF TB to a stock plastic intake manifold.
If A=B and B=C, then A should equal C...

 

The logic is there.
I can measure once I have it in hand... in a short 5 weeks, but right now we can only assume it will be the same as the tvs1900 and have the oe bolt pattern to accommodate the stock tb.

 

Well the off the shelf adapter should have a smooth transition in my opinion. @snivilous did an awesome job on that to flow into the larger 102mm inlet of my blower from the rcf... The whipple adapter has also a bell transition for smooth flow. Yes the adapter may bolt on but why just stop there lol. I was just curious if the inlet size has gone up on the maggy from the 1.9 to the new version.
