So I'm at Toyota and they highly recommended the procomp level which uses spacers, blah. Hell of a lot cheaper but not sure it will ride as smooth as they say.

So frustrated with all this lift stuff, no one seems to know what the hell to do and too many options. I sure as hell don't know. Think I may just scrap the whole idea.

It's not that complicated Wes. Here's what I would do. It doesn't seem like you want to spend for Kings or Icons, etc. So depending on budget, I'd go for Radflo, Boss, OME, Bilsteins, spacer lift, in that order. Find the wheels you want in +12 to +18. Throw some STT Pros or Ridge Grapplers on in 295/70/18. Trim some plastic and you're done.

Yeah I just called another local place to get a quote on everything. So we'll see what they come up with. They recommended a readylift spacer lift, some st option and replace the UCAs.

These shops will likely push the spacer lifts because the parts cost is low and the labor will probably be about the same as a coilover lift, but at a much smaller overall cost.

So if I do go with the Boss kit, do I really need to replace the UCA right away? What would be the biggest added benefit for doing that? I'm not going to be offroading, so would it really benefit me anyway?

It pretty much comes down to how much you want to spend and what type of driving do you plan on doing with your new lift. Honestly, I know nearly all here say don't do a spacer lift and I and probably wouldn't have but I did. For me I really haven't notice any issues but then again I really haven't even taken her off roading (not even to the snow which would be the main reason I bought a 4x4). So if your just going for a look and don't plan on doing any decent off roading or want to throw away the money you spend on your off road package, get spacers and be happy. Understand some might tease you about doing so (heck one off road shop claimed my Toytec TU3 leveling kit was just an over priced/over engineered kit and compared to some kits it might be) but I'm satisfied with it for now. I plan on staying with my current set up until I wear out my Bilstein 4600 shocks and then replace my set up with something nicer.

If your thinking about doing some decent off roading then you're better off upgrading now.

That's the thing. I wont be doing any offroading what so ever, my truck isn't a 4x4. Maybe the occasional drive through the pasture, but I've done that stock. All I want is a smooth ride like it is now. My problem is I see everyone talk bad about spacers so in my head, I dont want that. Everyone says BOSS or better, so I'm leaning towards that. I know it will be good, but do I really need it. $300 vs $1800. Or maybe i can still replace the shocks with the Bilstein setup, at least then it should be better than stock and not be as much as the BOSS.

    Did you replace the UCAs?

Wes, I still have my stock UCA's. You'll be fine especially since you won't wheel it. My alignment is all in spec except the caster. Which doesn't wear tires.

Wow, I always thought the TSS package was a 4x4 off road package. Just my opinion, but since you're not planning on off roaring but would like to just upgrade your ride. Why not just go with the 5100's? Honestly, most of the guys on here will off road much harder than I plan too so I can see why they upgrade to the higher end stuff but for the 95% street driving I do, my Toytec spacer works for me. No, I haven't replaced my UCA's ...

No the TSS says "Off Road", but doesn't mean it's 4x4. I think it's because they add the bigger more aggressive wheels.

Yeah, I'm someone that always wants the best, but that's where I'm now trying to convince myself if I need to spend that much on something I won't use tonits max or need.

Sorry for the back and forth, ha

    Roughly 3/4" more ...

Since I don't really off road I'm tempted to go with some 1 to 1.25" spacers again until I buy new tires.

Biggest issue I have is that would put me squarely back in line with having to do the CMC mod.

I spoke to a guy at 4 wheel parts yesterday about my lift options and coilovers.. he told me if I wasn't going to do much off-road and since my truck has brand new struts on it, that a spacers would be just fine.. when I put about 40-50k miles on it and about to need some new struts or whatever. Then I should look into spending that $ and putting on coilovers at that point.. no sense in wasting brand new strut that's good for the next 3-4 years

No, I think we are all on the same page. 40-50K miles? I'm already at 17K, so it wont be long before I'm up there, ha. But that does make a lot of sense. All I care about is that it rides smooth.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
I ran without UCAs for a year on ~2.5 - 3" front lift. No issues. Was able to get in alignments specs. When i added the TC UCA you could tell a difference in the easy movement and added travel. Made for a better ride.

I think you should go 5100s all around at top setting with a shim and toytec or CB shackle to raise the back about an inch. This would basically give you a 2.75/1 lift level. Some have had tougher times with alignment and some haven't.

If you want level and a nice ride then go 2nd notch up front with a shim and 5100 at back w/o shackles.. I just did this with some 295/70r18 Ridge grapplers and am very happy with the look and ride.

Lol ... No, we're talking about the same thing and then I spoke about wheels spacers (Spidertrax, Bora) regarding how Wes is also trying to figure out what size and offset he wants his wheels in. Sorry if I threw you off ...
