Do you have any details on what all they "chop", ha. I need to look into this as well just in case and know what I'm up against.

I did not chop the body mounts on my Truck. You don't have to unless you want certain looks and/or size.

One more thing to watch out for, when choosing your wheels, make sure you get hub-centric wheels. Some popular wheels have substantially larger bore size than Tundra bore size (to accomodate various different brand trucks). You are less likely to run into trouble with vibration.

The best pic I've seen is one from a new member that joined 2 weeks ago. Built his own bed rack. Can't remember his name. But he had a great pic of what he chopped. I'll see if I can find it soon as I should be working right now :D

Other surprise costs no one mentions before you get the lift... You need to pay for alignment. Probably new TPMS sensors and lug nuts. If speedo being off is going to bother you, you'll need a Speedo calibrator. Mpg's drop a butt load. Going to have to figure a way to get a full size spare. Otherwise just get a set of 5 wheels and tires and do a 5 tire rotation. That way you don't waste money on a spare and get 25% longer wear on your expensive ass tires.

Yeah I know what you're talking about. Just before I got the Tundra, I had a Chevy that I put XD wheels on. When I'd get to 70-75mph, it would vibrate and bounce like crazy. I didn't have it long and I took that crap back and traded it in, ha. Sucked but I guess it worked out because I bought the Tundra. So happy that I did!

Yeah it can be done, but my problem with that is the old wheels lose them. And most places charge about $10-$15 per wheel to swap them and replace the stem on old wheels. I think my new ones were about $25 each. And that helped a lot in selling my old wheels.

Your speedometer is now out of whack too, right? With bigger tires your actual speed is like 5 mph slower than speedometer. At least that is what I've read.

    Wes,

From my limited experience with leveling my truck and purchasing my wheels and tires, I'd say go a minimum of a 3/1 level unless you want alittle more forward rake. I went with 20's as I like the look better however they are heavier, cost more (both wheels and tires) and don't provide as much protection (not an issue for me as I don't really off road, besides I still have my 18" OEM wheels I can use for that). An offset of +18 to +20 I believe would work perfectly with your flares, I wouldn't go higher as then they might looked tucked in. Tire size ... If you go 35's I'm betting you'll need to do the CMC. I went with 34" (295/60) and I barely miss the mount, still lost my flaps and had to massage my liners to stop the rubbing. Lastly, keep in mind tire noise ... The more aggressive the pattern the more noise you might get. With my Toyo's OC ATII's I start getting a slight hum at about 60mph (not enough to bother me, just know it's there).

I'm going to go against the grain here, but I vote for some stock 18" wheels. You can find four for prices around $250 used, they're hub-centric (places a lot less shear stress on the studs), place less stress on the wheel bearings (the high positive offset balances the load more evenly), there will be fewer rocks thrown outside of your fenders, and you can treat them off-road with reckless abandon and easily find more used ones for cheap. You won't be able to go wider than a 285 tire (without spacers). I'm not a big fan of having everything blacked out and very much like my silver wheels; it adds some contrast. You can even fit a 35" tire if you get a 285/75R18. I ended up going with a 285/70R18 Nitto Exo Grappler for my tire and have had no problems with clearance with simply adding Fox 2.0 coilovers and shocks. I say the less you modify, the better. On some past vehicles it led to nothing but problems. Fucking Jeep.

I have 18" Methods with +18 offset and 295/70/18. I did a body mount chop to be safe.

I wish there was a way to get the TRD off-road (black and machined) and the TRD Pro (all black) wheels in different widths and offsets.
Imo they're the best looking wheel for the trucks, just aggressive enough but subdued also so it doesn't look like you put "rims" on your truck. It's a personal opinion but I just hate that "rims" look on a truck.
    Gotta be 18" diameter too.

Sorry, that was zero help. Lmao.

Ha all good but yes that does make sense. Wonder why Toyota doesn't do that. You'd think they wouldn't want everyone replacing their brand.

Hey guys, yes the body mount chop is only needed really on 37's and if you have crazy offset ... im running methods... and I have to say they make a great product, perfect for tundras as they designed them to clear our big brakes even with a 17" rim... and the offset is really nice... of and they are super light too! Helps when running 35's or larger to reduce rotating mass.

either way.,.. here are some shots when my budy and I did my body mount chop..

    Photo%20Feb%2028%2010%2049%2038_zps04io8_cec9ec089f0000161ffe9daad0bc43ca60f515c9.jpg

so this is the body mount for the cab to frame... you trim it and put in a plate... you have to make sure you dont cut the actual mount just the frame around it.. you cut it back and plate it so you add clearance when the wheels are turned.

Let me know if you have other questions...
