This is what the NX500 looks like. Same basic bike as the CB500X in the quote (bike on the left), but a different aesthetic.

Yes. I’ll have to dig them up. And since it’s my weekend now I’ll have to post them on Monday.

I love riding a small bike fast. I live in an area where we have amazing riding both street and dirt. I’ve had several vintage Italian scooters. I had a Vespa that I used to take out to the local twisties and I would smoke people on liter bikes. They would get so pissed.

Yup. Just ask a group of bike folks about the Grom. Guarantee at least one person in the group (unless they are all pirate cosplayers... er... harley riders) is going to know about them and everyone that has them loves to rip around on it.

That's what I had at my MSF class. Well, a Z125, but same thing. I'm a bit too big for them though.

Speaking of 990 and speaking of deer, i just finished up building my friend’s KTM Baja bike after he and his wife hit a deer at 65mph about 1.5 years ago. The bike looks like a sleeper, but i went through it completely. Deleted the immobilizer out of the ECU, removed two large handfuls of wires from the harness, longer suspension, Baja Designs headlight, ect, ect. The bike is pretty darn lightweight compared to what it was originally.

I feel the abs front/no abs rear is the ticket for big bikes. The weight of the bike makes it near impossible to slow down on steep loose rocky trails and having the front lock up the only adds to the nightmare.
I hope to never go down that trail again.

My son had a 2015 CB500X for his first bike. (Sold it and now has a new TransAlp!)
The CB is a GREAT first bike.
Simple, Honda reliability and just fast enough to be fun to rip around on.

I'll have to get pics of mine up here this weekend.

Funny, I've been itching to get out and ride but the weather here in CO hasn't been terribly cooperative.

I've been riding on the street since 2020, but prior I grew up with dirt bikes as most goofy country kids did. They are great little tools for pushing cows. This one is my third street bike since 2020, I picked it up last September. Still getting used to it, I started on a 2011 KLR650, then moved to a 2009 Vulcan 900 Classic, and now have a 2019 Vulcan Vaquero.

    Here's the new bike.

    Love those 690’s.
I had narrowed it down to a 690 and a Tenere700 and I still question my decision to go with the T7.

Wr250r or the crf300l are fantastic bikes to learn on and one hell of a lot of fun. They will do anything you ask them to on road or off.
whatever you do… don’t get on v4 Ducati.

I bought another toy but this one tried to kill me in Feb.IMG_8437.jpg
My neighbor bought a 690 and I loved it so I went and found one, we trailered to Moab for a week and road all over the place. Great time

Well for my wallet's sake I'll stay away from them! I'm spending too much money on this truck now anyway!

I think he's saying it's awesome, like if I go test ride one I'm gonna want it.

Damn. I'm sad to have stumbled on this thread because I sold all my bikes last year. Especially that stable living in @whodatschrome's barn. I am truly experiencing riding fomo again. Those 2 Baja editions were my dream ktm. Nice work!

Phenomenal bike, the best I have ever ridden. I was a huge fan of V-Twin sport bikes and I was horrified when they went to the v4. Then I rode one… I was blown away at how good it is.

Take my advise, abandon this idea. Worst ever. If you get alive after crash, you will curse the day you decided to buy it, if you die, your loved ones will curse you and your stupid idea, and you WILL eventually crash. There is no question YES or NO, there is only question WHEN and IF you survive. And worst case you would wish you died.

Agree. I’ve been riding for 18 years and have yet to lay a bike down. I did have one close call, and actually ran across the front bumper of a car who pulled out in front of me, but I kept the bike upright.

Also, I started on a 2006 CBR1000RR and had no issues. You have to respect the bike and know your limits. That’s what gets people in trouble. If you do start on a lower cc bike, buy used. Bc you’ll soon want more bike once you get comfortable.
