3 weeks in and I love it...

Crazy ass mixed materials on these 3rd Gens

Just for the mustache we have:
SR is black
Standard SR5, SR5 TRD Sport, TRD Pro, and Capstone is color matched
SR5 TRD OR and 1794 is chrome
Limited is satin chrome
Platinum is dark/black chrome

 

Good looking truck. I like the looks of this truck with a topper and would be great for my business at times. I also like the looks of my truck with just the Sentry hard roll up bed cover. Eventually I think I'll be doing one like yours. Is it leveled/lifted?

Wow, that is a good looking truck @Silver23. Ours is same truck, non lifted. Can I ask if you noticed any change in truck handling behavior before/after the lift? I would like to get ours lifted but don't want to impair highway behavior especially towing.

which trim level gets the color matched tailgate upper (for lack of a better description) "spoiler" piece? Not huge on the black piece with any body color that isn't black

 

Oh man, now you opened a can of worms, lol. That piece is color matched on the SR5 TRD models (except the lowest priced TRD Off-Road package), it is black on the SR and standard SR5.

I know it is also black on some other trims, but I do not know the specifics. I believe it is color matched on the Limited, Pro, 1794, and Capstone, but it is black on the Platinum. Your best bet would be to build one on toyota.com and and look at the rear 3/4 view of the truck. It will show whether the tailgate spoiler piece is black or color matched.

Oem parts full surround.

 

Here is another pic. Hauling my 66 gmc from Maryland out to my new home in Arizona.

 

Prior to adding the TRD lift, the truck was plush and "car-like". The TRD lift added better handling/good firmness which feels like a truck. I don't regret spending the extra money to add the warrantied TRD lift. To me, the stock Tundras sit lower than all the other stock trucks.

 

I am liking the silver more and more.

I agree but its subjective. Some people like it factory but most color change. I came from the Platinum so it wasn’t that obvious being silver but the color matched surround all the way around sure made a huge difference. I really like it and oem parts does a great job.

 

Btw, I have no affiliation with oem parts. Just sharing my experience.

 

All the way around looks the best to me. Then add the black Tundra letters to the fog lamp trim Toyota part PT948-34224-02.

 

Is that 66 a 3/4 ton?
