Wish you green thumbs could help me. Just bought my first property with a "lawn" and I am exhausted trying to keep up with it. Came from the mountains where there was nothing to mow, at least not neatly. Having hell with weeds and having to mow all the time. Getting too old for this stuff :rain:

    Some good looking yards guys!

She’s thick! Badly need some shrubs in my large mulch beds but I haven’t got around to it, and some border material of some type.

Just bought a new house in April and the yard was at least 95% weeds. We determined it was best to just kill it and start over.
I'll report back in the spring.

What did you use? I have a clover and dandelion infestation slowly taking over my lawn. I'm thinking of going with a broadleaf killer but I'm not sure which one. I'm not adverse to wiping everything out and starting over like you though.

I just clicked on this thread looking for this exact advice lmao. Grew up in the mountains in Colorado where lawns aren't a thing, bought a house in Utah which has some lawns and man what a fucking pain in the ass for a completely pointless landscape feature. If it wasn't for the wife wanting to keep the grass, I would totally ignore it.

    Not sure at this point.
Just the thread I was looking for…

Laid down some Scott’s KBG just this past weekend.

Hoping it’ll sprout soon with the warm weather in CT coming along. Just rained today so received quite a bit of water.

Are any of you guys starting a new lawn? Anyone using lawn food on new lawn or waiting until it sprouts?

Does anyone else sit and ponder what kind of pattern to mow this week? Lol. The latest one.

Overseeding already? Also why would you mow afterwards? Does that negate the whole overseeding process?

Just asking cause I plan to overseed but not until late October and then no more mowing

MN here. Fall is the best time for cold climate grasses (rye and kbg). I had germination at day 5 from the rye. We had a bunch of rain that shot up the established grass or I would've waited post 4 weeks up mow. Mowed high so I don't knick the new grass yet.

What Army worms will do to a lawn. Already treated and will fix with aerating and over seeding in a few weeks..

We are putting seed down today. They rented a lawn overseeder power rake because my yard is sloped. It's a machine that will push the seed into the dirt.
