Alright. I think we need a yard care tips and tricks thread. Plus, I want to show my yard progression off as well :canada:. It has been my goal to make my lawn nice this year. I don’t have any before shots of mine- but it was covered in dandelions a month ago. I have been doing a few things to try and get rid of them over the past month...

    1. A good coating of spring fertilizer

    2. I bought a manual stand up weed puller and have used it for a month now. First round took me two days to pull the majority of yellow flower bearing ones, front and back yard. Then, I waited until the next time I mowed- once a week for my climate. Then a hour here or there picking some for the last week.

    3. I have been spreading grass seed over the yard after each mow, once a week.

    4. I have been watering it after each mow and seed for a good 4-5 hours.

Oh, and I always cut my grass in the evening so it doesn’t burn.

Anyway, my lawn is far from done and am looking forward to hearing everyone’s tricks for a perfect yard. Cheers.

I have a gardener :spending::facepalm: but my front lawn has been lacking. Just sprayed some miracle grow lawn care yesterday. He keeps saying that I’m not watering enough and I’m wondering if my timer isn’t working right. Anyway here’s how it is when good

Great question. I can only assume a fescues, Kentucky bluegrass and/or ryegrass because I’m in the north. I googled it and that what it told me :anonymous:. Is there a good way to tell?

Thanks man. I do my own lawn care and yard work. I do not water it cuz well its just is a pain in the ass and costs too much. So in the dry spells I get brown spots. I fertilize once, maybe twice a year. Mostly to keep crab grass away. My mower I've had for 20 years. Bobcat 48" walk behind, love that thing and it paid my way through college too.

Before the heat killed my lawn. I have given up on trying to keep a green lawn through the summer. I will plant in the fall and it will stay green till June:cool:

I'm with ya in battling heat and drought. Can't justify the work and watering costs and waste.

Thanks Sean, I need to cut the 6 pine trees down in front to open it up. Bermuda thrives here, but needs full sun.

That's a lot of tree work man. I have trees needed to come down in my yard. I've done 4 or 5 so far since moving in. 2 or 3 to go. Seems like every tree is a grand to cut. So one every year or two has been my plan. There was only one I could have done myself and I did that one.
