This just reinforces the fact that lego makes the most timeless, awesome, age be damned toys that exist. The level of creativity is endless and the way they put these together is nothing short of amazing. I will literally never outgrow them. And my kids won’t either if I have anything to say about it.

    Merry Christmas all

Seems their MO is to take a well-designed MOC and turn it into a dedicated set. I did their FJ40 and was pretty happy with it. A few quirks but really a good build.

Wow these look amazingly similar to Lego. Any funkyness in fitment of anything?

    No
Pretty much a blatant (but similar quality) knockoff of the Lego parts. The technic pins are a little tighter fitting but I haven’t had any issues with them at all. And $90 for a 2100 piece technic kit is a great price

Agreed. The price is currently the only reason I don’t purchase new sets. But these knockoffs look pretty slick.

My son is a glutton! It's a little after 10 PM, he has done 9 out of 13 bags, and he insists on finishing it tonight. I told him I would see him (and the lighthouse) in the morning!

I did the same thing with the UCS Falcon. Total 24 hours to build over several weeks. And I stretched out the build even longer by organizing the parts from each bag.

So recently my 6year old got into duplos and now into legos, his fingers are small but even with my fingers I can’t get some pieces apart. He’s now lost like 3 pairs of mommas tweezers that he uses to get them apart. My sister said there is some sort of legit Lego tool used to separate pieces? What is it called?

That thing is a godsend for getting apart the thing tiles. I think I must have a dozen of them scattered around. Most of the bigger sets come with one now.

at first it takes a little getting used to, but once you mess with it a little and figure out the leverage mechanics it becomes second nature. When we did “Operation: Lego Inventory” during covid, it was indispensable

I grew up with legos - one reason I got into engineering. Son grew up on legos, always enjoyed but didn't lead him to engineering. We still have a huge box full, all mixed together, now wish we had bagged each with their instructions. Gave our 4 year old grandson his first set for Xmas - I was sad to see no more instruction leaflet, just a bar code for app, I think some things are cool enough to be printed.

My sons Mario sets don’t have paper instructions! There’s a special Mario Lego app you download for it and it tells you how to build them and then how the electronic characters interact with the pieces! It’s crazy!!!

    Through “bag” 3
337 steps so far (out of 659)
Chassis is essentially complete. 6-speed working gear box + Hi/Lo range. Separate lever for 4WD, and another lever for locking differentials (front and rear lock at same time). V6 pistons move with drivetrain. Independent suspension at each corner, with straight axles. Working steering.

There’s a lot of friction in the gear box with that many speeds in addition to Hi/Lo - in Hi anything over 2nd gear is really stressing the individual axle rods and gears, even though I took a lot of time making sure everything was free spinning during assembly. It definitely needs some run-in/break-in.

Yeah man, it’s a fun build. I believe there is even a way to put a technics motor in it and have it drivable…..my instruction manual had an illustration at the end that made it seem like you could do that.

    Are they the Mario ones?

We have built a few sets new in 2022. All had paper instructions.
