What do you mean? Looks like a beveled edge down to the flare is intentional.

Yep. Toyoguard Platinum is a mandatory port add in SC. I’m sure elsewhere too.

I read about that recently, it’s an available option but Southeast Toyota distributor makes its mandatory on their vehicles.

Yeah. A couple extra oil changes, tire rotations, 5/60 roadside and “paint and fabric” for $700

is the long wait for cats a tundra issue? Toyota issue? Everyone issue? Is the truck driveable?

It's a worldwide political issue and we don't discuss politics on this forum.
Do I blame Toyota for the delay?
No, I do not, they are doing the best they can.
They put me in a 2021 Tacoma loaner/rental, and they are paying for it.

    It is driveable?
Well, I drove it to the dealership on 11/16/2021, it has been there since.

The last time I went to my dealership in Austin for my free oil change, it took two hours and I had an appointment. 1 hour to Austin, 1 hour back. From here on out, I'm just taking it to a local mechanic I trust. If I had the driveway set up to do it myself, i would.

    Life is good Brother..:D
    Things could be worse..

I could be paying for a rental myself.
@ $45 day, that bill is over $7.5K, my insurance only pays $1500 of it.
The cost of parts and labor for the repairs is only $6K...:eek2:

I wish I had the gumption to do it myself.
The biggest issue around here is getting rid of the used oil.
So many auto parts places leave signs up saying their oil return tank is full.
I just don't think they want to deal with it.

Although I do change my own lawnmower oil ... :D

Yea used motor oil is a pain but still better than messing with the dealer. Just get a 20 quart container and you can do two oil changes before worrying about disposing of it.
Luckily I live in a city that comes by once a month for bulk trash and chemical pick up so they take it off my hands

I can’t ever complain about my dealer. I can drive up and get an oil change any day I want. Granted, I may have to wait a bit if they’re backed up but if I call and schedule I can get same day or next day every single time.

I'll schedule mine on a Saturday around 11.
Several restaurants around within walking distance.
Even a Costco I can walk thru and get some exercise.
I just go eat lunch and take a newspaper to do the crossword puzzle.

Usually finished in 90 minutes or less.
I like having everything on Toyota's record.
I think that helps with resale, even though I plan to keep mine until it dies...:eek2:

We have a closer dealer but when I took our 4Runner in a few years ago for its maintenance, they told me the brakes were metal on metal and they need to shave the rotors. Wanted like $500. I told them I'd call around. The guy goes "Well, you're probably going to have to sign a waiver stating that we made you aware that you are driving a dangerous vehicle." Idiot.
I took it to a local mechanic the very next day. He said it'd be $200. No problem. Dropped it off in the morning. He calls a few hours later and asks if I can come out so he can show me something. The brakes were perfectly fine. He compared the new pads to the pads on the 4Runner. Rotors for fine. We at at 90,000 miles and the original brakes are still going strong. I'll never step foot in that dealership again.

I’ve never been back to the dealer I bought my truck from. Zero interest whatsoever. They offered two years of “free” service that is always rolled into the price, and I said no. Relying on the place that wants to sell you a new vehicle to keep your current vehicle in tip top shape makes no sense to me.

However, the nice thing is, I have free access to my CarFax through them. So I add every single maintenance item and inspection that I perform myself. And I stick to the schedule. I do this on the owners page of Toyota.com as well.

I took my truck in to my dealership for an oil change and whatever else. They said "you're due for a brake service". I was thinking it was a scam but then I was also thinking what's another $160 to make sure my family is safe while I'm towing our trailer all over this summer? They called me when they were done and said they didn't charge me for the brake service because when they took them apart everything still looked like it was brand new.

I must be the only guy who has no issue going to the dealer. Ours is great; never had any issue.

From what you have said in the past about your dealer, it sounds like they’re great. I’ve had terrible experiences in one way or another with all three in Nashville.

I didn't realize Nashville is that small. We have about twice as many people and 5 dealerships.

Nashville is very small geographically. We’re overpopulated and still growing though. There is only one dealer that has a Nashville address. The other two I’ve had terrible experience with are in Cool Springs (Franklin address) and Madison. There are at least two or others in the immediate area (Gallatin & Murfreesboro). Two more within an hour of Nashville (Clarksville and Columbia).

Ours used to be really good. After the brake pad scam, I called our salesman and he said the regional manager or whatever they are called were telling the area service departments to "upsell."
That's when I started driving an hour past our local dealership to the dealership out in North Austin, but after a 2 hour oil change, I'd rather just pay for the local mechanic (who has earned my trust) to do it.
