Still not able to figure this out.

The switch I currently have in the tundra is a seven pin. The one I got in the kit is an 11 pin

I feel like I got the mirrors wired up correctly.

And I assume this is how this wiring goes.

And the leftover plug in the center plugs into the factory harness.

And every time I connect the power I blow the fuse for the mirrors and navigation

Eliminate the harness with all black wires!!!! Just dont use it
The harness plugs right into the switch and the plug on truck plugs into harness.. Thats it.. No black wired harness.. The all black wired harness goes into the drivers side door handle for the Auto fold when you click lock and unlock.. Still havent figured out what two wires go to to get that to work.. So i just didnt use it

I have two harnesses with all black wires, the one must have to go on the switch because the other harness will not plug-in to switch without it and then the one for the door.

I ordered the switch with the partial Illumination.

I'll be in Cali in less than 30 days and will be upgrading my speakers. I'll take pictures of how I have it wired when I do and post them here.

Here is a picture of the connector that goes to the door plug. The two wires in the webbing connected to the large harness. I don't have a picture of that. It looks like your harnesses are not the same as the one that I have. Not sure why she changed it.

Hey guys- I bought one of the plug and play kits for my 2012 SR5 over a year ago and now just getting ready to install. Without any printed instructions I'm a little lost on all these connections. Reading through the forums has helped, but still uncertain on where the 2-wire harnesses connect. I have two of these..one for each side but where do they plug in and terminate?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Are you talking about the the two 2-wire harnesses? They go into the mirrors and plug into the control box. Look at the second picture in my first post.

This is where I'm having a little trouble figuring this out. I don't have the control box like yours with mine being a 2 generation..2012 model. Pictures on KJTO's site show female connectors with pins in the kit. I didn't receive any of those and the two wire harness has a male connector on one end and the other is not terminated. Hoping someone that's done a 2nd generation upgrade could possibly chime in and help as well.

Looking at her website, the harness with the long red wire that goes to the battery, looks like it has the other connector for the long 2-wire harness. Does it?

Correct..I unraveled the harness and it has female connectors attached...got that question solved.
Why two power wires? One in the main harness and one lone wire with 20A fuse. Any ideas?
Harness with short unattached wire are for door lock/unlock in drivers door..correct?

Fwiw, beware of power fold mirrors and snow and ice. Sometimes they don't fold and end up broken.

Got my kit a few weeks ago. I’m going to try and install mine in a few days. Reading through this thread I’m realizing this might not be as easy as I thought. I have a 2015 SR5 and I installed a set of power folding tow mirrors. I got the kit with the non illuminated switch. I’d like to get the fold when locked feature to work as well. I saw that there weren’t any instructions inside the box and the link led me to this. With the many possible versions of the kit and after reading through the this thread I confused myself more. Can anyone point out which parts of this thread I should pay special attention to when installing this based on the trim I have and the mirrors I want to get to work. Is there anything I need to get outside of this kit before I attempt to install this. TIA

There is a youtube video by an asian guy that does PF mirrors pretty good and detailed but I don't think he uses the kit you purchased. At some point I might power mine, but keeping them manual for now. Due to the fact that we get ice here, I am somewhat concerned about breakage. I don't garage my beast and seldom park where it is a concern, so for now all is good. Still very interested in your project, so please keep updating as you move forward. Wish I could assist further! Good luck!

Thanks! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that one. Required some repinning and was just a little to much than I was comfortable doing. I’m not a fan of electrical work. That’s why I bought this kit for the “plug n play” hopefully when I get into it it’s not as bad. I’m living in Southern California the frost doesn’t get thick enough to be an issue.

    Couple of things:

    1. If you live somewhere with snow and freezing rain, consider not connecting the mirrors to the door locks. Might be better to just run in manually.
    2. If you connect the control box to switched power, the mirrors will not complete their fold cycle if you shut the truck off.
    3. If you connect the control box to always on power, there is a parasitic draw. It's not much but it all adds up.
    4. I found the pins to the mirrors to be finicky. I also ended up swapping them so that when the switch is IN the mirrors are tucked in. When the switch is OUT the mirrors are folded out. I think the instructions go the other way and it was triggering my OCD.

    Thanks for the info!

I’m in Southern California so I don’t think the little bit of frost will be much but hopefully I remember this on my trips to Big Bear in the snow.

I have realized that this kit is not really plug and play and I’m worried I’m going to jack this all up. I figured a $200 kit would include actual instructions other than the link. My electrical experience are limited. This thread has a lot of info but I’m trying to pull the info pertinent for my set up and I’ve successfully confused myself. Especially once I found out that there are multiple versions of this kit.

I will probably try to swap those pins like you did for yours if I gather enough confidence when I get to that point.

What posts should I look at for the most inclusive directions for this?

This thread is one of the better ones, but here a couple things I would recommend:

    • The drivers door is the hardest to get all of the wiring to. There isn't much room to pass the wiring from near the fuse box and into the door. Take your time and use tool to pull the wires through. It can be a bit frustrating but it's more time consuming than anything. Just don't poke anything sharp in there as you could cut existing wiring.

    • It's in this thread but clearly understand the pins your need to wire at the mirror. Know which pins do what. The pins themselves are finicky to attach to the the wiring and just be careful once you push the pins into the connector - they don't enjoy coming out again. So try and get it right the first time.

    • Try the entire system before you close up your doors. If you messed up something you won't have to open it up again.

    • Like always, it's good practice to disconnect your battery when working on electrical.

    • What mirrors are you using? If you are using a set from a Platinum or a power folding aftermarket that has built in puddle lights, considering wiring that in at the same time. It's only one extra wire (you would need to source the wire) to each mirror and you can connect it to your cargo light circuit so it comes on/off with your cargo lamp. It's easy to tap into as the hot wire goes along the floor trim at the drivers door. If you search for cargo light wire on the forum, you will find a description of the color of wire to look for.

That cargo lamp wire was pink under my door door sill. There are two pink, Iirc it is the heavier guage of the two. Easy to poke a needle in it and hit with a test light grounded to the door latch.

Puddle lights if you have them on aftermarket mirrors or add them to oem mirrors.

I believe it’s pink only on 2018 and up. Searching pink wire will uncover the thread with details.

Don’t have those yet. I got the tow mirrors not sure I want to take that one on yet and take the mirrors apart to add one.

The links to the install video and installation guide on the KTJO website don’t seem to work. Anyone know if it’s available anywhere else?

Started today. My crimper was not effective. Ordered another one off Amazon. Hopefully the connector can be salvaged. It looks like Auto Zone has them. Anyone know what size they are?

I got the driver side wire in place before I found out the situation with my crimper. At least the wire is routed through the grommets and sleeves and I won’t have to take the speaker off again. I’m looking for a picture that illustrates where all the connectors for this go does one exist?

I’m going to tap into the fuse for the power seats. I don’t have power seats in my truck. Like I’ve said before I don’t have too much electrical experience. If I connect the fuse tap to that the fuse tap has two 10 amp fuses and the fuse for the power seat is a 30 amp fuse will there me any issues?

Thanks again guys. You have been very helpful.
