Went in yesterday around 7:15 and left around 11:30, after the procedure. Frankly, it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be, or as many said it was. I suspect that's because I went there BEFORE I was in excruciating pain. Got a stent in that I go back to have removed next Tuesday. Sleeping a pretty good deal today, but overall just about pain free. :)

Going back for the stint was much worse for me. Awake with a little numbing gel, my feet in stirrups, the doctor with his flexible grabie tube thing and the nurse standing there. Doc having trouble grabbing the stint up in my bladder telling me to relax. I have passed last 3 to avoid that part ever again.

Ah, in my case, there's a string, and I've talked to actual patients of his who have all said it feels 'weird' and that's about it.

At least it has to be better than the stent getting blocked for 12 hours the other day. :goingcrazy: That was *NOT* fun - ended up going to the ER.

Should be. Surgery was Tuesday; I get the stent taken out this coming Tuesday. I expect some possible residual pain but aside from this last Thursday, pain and discomfort have been maybe a 1.5 - 2 on a scale of 1-10. :)

Been there, almost worst pain ever (Sciatica was worst, different story). Mine was a full centimeter:eek2: WTF?!? Dr. went in with a laser and cut it up!:laser:
Started passing pieces, parts a week later. All calcium. Heard apple cider helps. And staying hydrated!:drunk::proposetoast:

That stent will begin to hurt right before they remove it. Coming out ain't bad at all. I had a cute nurse clean it up, would've been a little embarrassing if I was 15-20 years younger. ;)

Had stones a few years ago. I thought my appendix had burst the pain was so bad. Drove myself to the hospital 1.5 miles from home and pulled over 3 times to throw up on the way. Was better once the morphine kicked in. Get well soon

I "think" I'm well now. Got the stent pulled out yesterday, and it actually wasn't all that bad.

An hour later, I started barfing and pain started up again. This time I knew what it was - had to be blood clots. My guess is that there were some 'old' blood clots in the kidney that were dislodged/pulled into the ureter when they pulled the stent out.

I forced myself to walk in hours, do jumping jacks, etc. in the bedroom, while barely sipping water (so as to be able to keep it down), and finally around 5 p.m. (5 hours later) the pain suddenly disappeared. Drank a ton of water, whizzed a bunch, and then slept for 13 hours straight. Hopefully it stays better.

On the upside, hey, I lost 10# in a week! LOL

I'm better now. Every day or so I'll get a very minor back ache (not even worth doing anything about), and find it hard to whiz for an hour or two, and then all is well. Doc told me "Normal; those are the stone fragments/small blood clots making their way out of your body" and that I'll likely deal with that for a week or so, and that's about it.
That stent hurt about 2 days after I got it put in. Fun fact - blood clot in the stent hurts as bad if not worse than a kidney stone. The good thing is that my body heals insanely fast; but the bad thing is that meant every time I passed so much as a .5mm blood clot, I got slightly nauseous and back hurt.

THANKFULLY that sh*t is over. Nursing staff (both for surgery and my ER visit last Thursday) were super hot but the doc - a dude - pulled the stent out. Stung for about 1 second and that was it. Started barfing/back pain all over again for 6 hours but this time I knew what it was...toughed it out, forced myself to do jumping jacks and run around, and about 5 p.m. Tuesday everything passed. Collapsed into bed for 13 hours, took it easy Wednesday, and all is well now.

In the meantime, I figured out what the deal was - how I've gotten 2 stones out of nowhere. For the last 3 years I've drank a lot of lemonade - 'natural,' I thought. I make it with 3 ingredients - water, lemon juice and stevia.

Except I realized a few days ago the 'stevia' was stevia + maltodextrin. Turns out maltodextrin is one of the freakin' WORST things you can ingest for kidney stones. I've already made a ton of changes (drinking at least 1/2 my bodyweight in water, cutting down on anything with oxylate in it, I think, etc.) and I've changed out 'stevia' for *actual* plain stevia, so I should be good from here on out. :)

    This too shall pass.
But seriously, they suck. Ive had the ultrasonic stuff, I typically get them annually like clockwork. Fluids fluids fluids! And lots of grunting and ‘HNNNN’ noises seem to help when you’re writhing in pain.
