Thanks, I appreciate it. Thankfully, I'm WFH as many are; so I can take meds until it passes; humor helps as well. LOL

I had one that put me in the ER. They couldn't blast it based on the location. I had to carry it around until I passed it some 2 months later. It was bad. Good luck to you. Drink lots of fluids.

Yeah, I don't think it'll come to that; I had one (2mm) 2 years ago, and at the time I was told another was waiting (3mm), so evidently this is one of those.

Thankfully, wife works @ home (telework) for a company that specializes in kidney related issues, so she flat out told me "We'll rework your diet to make sure you avoid the things that don't play well w/you."

Mother of God. O_O 2 months?

I was lucky; 1st one I passed after like 3 days; evidently this one has been around a month, although 99.9% of the time it's not painful much at all. It's just the OTHER 0.1% that really sucks.

    Been there. Excruciating.

Maybe my story will cheer you up a bit:

My assistant manager got them several years ago. He took off work, and actually missed a few days waiting for them to pass. I spent the whole time calling him and texting him, telling him to man up, get to work, stop being a meow.

A couple of years later I got up for work, went to take a leak, and the pain hit. Completely doubled me over, couldn’t move, etc. I asked my wife to call him and let him know I was going to the hospital and wouldn’t be at work. I only heard her side of the conversation. It went like this:

“Hey, this is Mrs. Machine. I’m taking Jason to the hospital. He’s having severe stomach pains. He’s laying on the floor and can barely move.”

    (Listens to his response)

    “Huh?”

(Listens to him repeat it, then looks down at me)

“He says to tell you he hopes you have a f-ing kidney stone.”

I just lay there and stick my middle finger in the air.

Yup, when I passed it, doctor asked me to bring it back to them to look at. They said it was 5-6 mm because it wasn't exactly round. They were surprised I was able to pass it. The Tamsulin helped since it dialates all of the tubing. But it hurt like hell and I bled for a day afterwards. That was about 3 years ago. Ever since, I have made a conscious effort to drink more water and drink things like lemon aid and orange juice.

I can empathize. I’ve passed over 50 in my life. The biggest was the size of an olive pit. The urologist asked me to name it hahaha. Mine are calcium oxcelate, red meat is a big no no for me. You should have a urologist analyze it and they can let you know what it’s made of and what to avoid. Also, the worst pain is not actually passing it. The worst is when it’s shredding the inside of your kidney and all those little tubes. Glad I can be a bright ball of sunshine, haha good luck!!

I'm kind of 'lucky' there; I'm actually already on Flomax (Tamsulosin), so doc just said "Double up on 'em." But yeah, I've been chugging water, lemonade, cranberry juice/apple cider vinegar, etc. like it's going out of style.

Yeah, thanks so much for that.

Seriously though, I did actually have that analyzation done 2 years ago...took it somewhat serious. Suffice to say I'm taking it a bit more serious now. LOL

My doctor told me to have a beer or two if I was ever having trouble passing one. I’m not a drinker at all, but who can refuse treatment like that? He said the alcohol promotes good urine flow, I said yah, I’ll try to break the seal early.

Everyone I've known that had Kidney Stones had a few things in common.

    a) it runs in their family
b)they drank a metric shit ton of soda and not enough water
    c) some combination of the above

Amazingly, I knew one guy that continued to guzzle Mt Dew after telling me about his horrible kidney stones.

I had 2 surgeries last year for a stuck kidney stone. Little bastard got caught in the ureter, stayed with me for a month. The worst part was when the dr pulled out the catheter, with no pain meds, like he was starting a weed eater, then left the room for 10 min until I could see straight, otherwise I would have punched him.

Man I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Had 2 of them 9mm and 12mm. First time trying to blast them was a fail. Had a stent for a week while they ordered in a more powerful machine. Went in the second time and told the doc if it was a failure NO STENT. I would live with the stones until surgery could be arranged. Thank the lord the second time was a success. Been staying hydrated for the last 8 years no problems with stones since. Knock on wood, plastic, the dog, everything.

I was getting some large (10mm X 25mm) kidney stones for a few years. I was growing them at a rate of about one per week. After multiple surgeries of going in after them and a surgery that removed a section of my small intestine to make me a new ureter. It was determined that I am one of 10K people in the US with Cystinuria.

I have to drink at least a gallon of water per day and take a medication called Thiola and Potassium Citrate to help neutralize my urine.

    Definition:
Cystinuria is an inherited autosomal recessive disease that is characterized by high concentrations of the amino acid cystine in the urine, leading to the formation of cystine stones in the kidneys, ureter, and bladder. It is a type of aminoaciduria.
