My Tacoma re-locks if no door opened in time. Lemme check my Tundra. I forget.

Yeah, looks like it auto locks if you don’t open a door in time. I had forgotten.

perhaps a spare key in a hitch safe or something? I wish I got to use my truck for real work.

[IMG] Bump this thread got my 02 sr5's rs3000 setup. Got a oem fob new at the local dealer and matched the FCC to the unit in my dash.

It's a new to me truck and I had a feeling it had a system based on the quality of the door locks. Made an account just to say thanks.

    Edit: One question tho.

One button does lock/unlock. The other lights up the bulb on the fob but the truck doesn't react. What would or could that be for? My truck is a pretty basic sr5 so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a feature I'm missing? Maybe I have to program that button?

Something to do with programming the bottom button for another Toyota vehicle. I have 2 Toyotas with the same RS system but I've never messed with it. I have no source for that but I swear I've read it.

I figure this might be the best thread to post this up on, but i’m trying to figure out if i have keyless entry on my 2004 Access cab. I think i do?...but there were no key fobs included when i bought the truck. I looked up my build sheet and it shows “VP SR5 Extra Value Package”. I believe that remote keyless entry is part of that package.

So if indeed i do have keyless entry, what do i need to buy or so to get it all hooked up and working?

Purple label is the RS3200 system/ECU. Looks like all you’d need is a compatible key fob and to program it. Easy peasy. You need the part number to hunt for? I would recommend used OEM off fleaBay but you do you.

FCC ID for RS3200 is BAB237131-056
If you search on that FCC ID you can find them. If you want the actual Toyota p/n, I can fetch that real quick.

I would much appreciate a toyota part number as well.

    08191-00922.

Other compatibles for part numbers since discontinued are 08191-00921, 08191-00920
Try removing the hyphen if the part number doesn't pull anything for you.

Anyone reading this later: The part numbers are only good for RS3200 systems for later models (2003+ I think?) and not earlier models like the 2002 this thread is originally about.

And nobody with an ‘02 or older has converted to the RS3200, right? I will say that RS3000 really doesn’t feel satisfying to me compared to modern keyless and the fob behavior and options are kinda lame too. But it sure beats manual locks.
At some point I will attempt something in my ‘05 Tacoma for keyless entry.

What’s the difference between the 3000 and the 3200?

Fobs, FCCID’s, etc. I’m not sure I’ve ever used the RS3200 hence the interest in hearing more about it. The RS3000 stuff is kinda weak overall. But at least it works.

I'm not sure about the differences. But it could be interesting to get the pinout of both, if for nothing more than figuring out if they're transposable. Maybe something to Google out on later for me, just because curiosity is ringing in my brain. Wouldn't it be nice if the system is integrated and the harnesses matched, so upgrading was plug n play? But I'm guessing the chances of that are super low.

Interesting thread on that other site suggests that upgrading from rs3000 to rs3200 is relatively easy...caveat emptor!

After having read through all 254 posts in this thread, yikes!

Honestly, this guys solution to adding fob’s to his taco may well be a good gamble to try on our first gen tundra’s…????

Thank you sir for the part number to fit my RS3200 box! Fedex delivered my key fob arrived this afternoon. I found a video on youtube on how to program it. It was super quick and easy. I’m super stoked to have a keyless entry in my truck!

Here’s the video that i watched to program my fob. And FYI, this is for the 2004+ tundra.

Awesome, hopefully it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Note: there are some custom features you can program in. If you go to the mega-info-dump thread, there’s a link to RS3200 programming instructions that will work for all AC/RC trucks, and let you customize stuff like … auto-lock after shutoff/departure, auto-lock when you start the truck, unlock all doors vs only driver, etc (IIRC)

One thing I wonder about between RS3000 and RS3200 is signal strength. I have particularly poor signal with my nonstandard flip fobs. Might compare with the OEM chain fob sometime. I have to be super close to get it to fire. Still better than a key in the door though.

My rs3000 on original remote is garbage when it comes to range as well. I have to be pretty close, better than nothing though.

I know i sounds weird, but hold the fob against your cheek bone when you press it...it will double the range!
