Yeah I pretty much match your tuning. Maybe I missed something. When I get a chance I will mess with my sub gain. it is set to zero.

What are you doing for all the vehicle settings that are only accessible via the factory HU?

Sweet! Didn't see anything on Kenwood's site talking about "retaining OEM settings", so figured I should ask.

When you use the maestro harness, it opens up increased functionality on the unit to access all of your oem controls and settings.

Yeah, I'm starting to learn that. Things have changed a lot since I last upgraded/replaced a stock head unit. lol

Well after some consideration, I sent the DDX9907XR back to Crutchfield. And found a DMX1057XR on Amazon. In comparing the two, with out a doubt I prefer the DMX1057XR. The HD Radio is much better, the screen resolution is much better, the volume nob is a plus, It seems everything is better. I like the other clean look but you get use to the floating head. So I just took all of the connections, (mic, wiring, etc.) that I used on the DDX9907XR and plug into the DMX1057XR. Everything was interchangeable.

That headunit is sweet. $1100? For the headunit. Just curious are you using XM radio and if you are any issues hooking that up. Thanks.

Your talking about the DMX1057XR, I paid $1249 on Amazon. I think the price went up. And no I'm not using XM radio, you need to buy an XM receiver for it. No issues hooking it up.

I heard about the price increase for another source as well. Initially the DMX1037S and DMX1057XR were priced the same but apparently this was by mistake.

Nonetheless I see them both online for about $1250 (I got mine for $1100 shipped, happened to be 'on sale' somewhere)

I just installed the DDX9907XR in my 2008 Tundra Crewmax Limited JBL with DVD entertainment (which is now lost but not really caring since the kids are grown). I replaced the speakers awhile back with the OEM Audio replacements. I insulated all the door cavities with Automotive Thinsulate and the change in sound was not subtle. The new speakers even with the JBL were very tight, distortion free, and had great punch to them. With the DDX9907XR, the highs and clarity are amazing but I feel like the punch is gone. If anyone has installed one of these in a 2nd Gen Tundra JBL I would be curious what your crossover settings are at.

Regardless, I'm really just super excited to have Apple CarPlay now instead of looking at the old Navigation unit from 2007 showing the arrow with now existing streets missing. Also amazed at how much clearer the backup cam is and that the turning lines actually function. Weird trick since that was not present in the stock unit. Maintained all steering wheel controls as well and I installed the GPS antenna under the dash towards the front and it works fine hidden. Just pressed the metal plate on from underneath. Watched a youtube video and removed all the unused wires and one connector from the harness, making it look very tidy. Bought the dual USB Sockets from Crutchield and installed the plate where the AUX was... super clean. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_074USBDKIT/Beuler-USBD-Kit.html

I also bought a front trail camera and found another unused nipple in the firewall on the passenger side to pass the wire through. Which was a good thing because I was stressing about the driver's side one which is already crammed with wire for my Baja Designs lights. Still haven't figured out where I am mounting it up front though.

Last question... I drilled a hole in my dash and installed the bluetooth mic in a rubber grommet which turned out really clean looking like another gentlemen on here. However, it is muffled to callers on the other end. Wondering if the vents in the mic behind the dash are causing that. Plan on pulling the dash this weekend and taping them off or surrounding with foam to see if that makes a difference. Anyone else have any experience with the Kenwood Mic?

Likely you need to pull out the mic slightly from the grommet. If flush, it is probably not capturing a lot of sound. Since sound is vibration, the grommet isolates that to some degree, and then if covering much of the mic head you may not be picking up much at all.

Also some folks notice that they need the mic up near their head (in the headliner) or pointing towards them from the dash since that's where you're projecting your voice.

Then there's always menus in the HU that should adjust input volume for the mic!
