    Niagara Rim Trail

    @froggy78
    Ed - Long Travel FJ
    Pres - 4R
    Mony - 4R

    We decided to go on a family run. Take our kids on a trail. @dcsleeper408 even brought his 1 month old but decided to leave because of the heavy smoke in the air from the fires.

    We first went to Dodge Ridge trail but it was a little too family friendly. Flat, short, and boring as shit. So we drove up to Niagara Rim, a red trail. There was a big fire a few miles away and they actually closed the highway right at our exit. CHP guys looked at us like we were crazy as we turned off. But the wind shifted and the air was actually pretty good.

    Gotta say, this was the most difficult trail yet. Within 30 seconds, we already needed spotting. And then it was obstacle after obstacle and continuous spotting. Took over 3 hours to get through the first 1/4 mile. We didn’t have enough time to have someone spot me in front so I got a good bit of damage. Each driver was constantly on an obstacle so we didn’t get too many pics.

    Yeah, that was actually a pretty steep hill. Hard to tell on video. I couldn't even see the rocks under me and the only one spotting me was my 11 y.o. daughter. And she was busy recording. And the bumper scrape, didn't even know I did that til I watched the video. I don't care who makes the diff plate, I just need one soon.

    What hardware are you using to lock that stuff down (the shovel, maxtrax and hilift)? I know you said you made the drop down bars for the shovel/maxtrax, but did you buy the strip of metal and just drill/paint it, or cut it down from a larger piece? Also, what handles did you end out using to keep the hilift and maxtraxx in place?

    I had a bunch of metal stock leftover from my welding days. Yes, I just cut them to the length that I needed, drilled and painted. Then got long carriage bolts and they're held in place with a nut in front. The handles are just generic cheapies I found at ACE hardware. The shovel is held by a Quickfist mount and the Hilift has two bolts through the floor of the bed. I was a little worried about how it would all hold up to rough wheeling but everything's been holding up really good.
