Damn! Definitely needs sliders for that! Was there a bypass for that area?

No bypass. Armor is a hard requirement for this trail. Joon was stuck there for about 2 hours when he was trying to go up. Dan and I had to drive around the mountain to the other side, because Joon thought that he needed us to pull him up. Right before we got there, he got himself out of it.

After riding shotgun, I was slightly happy that my truck wasn't ready for this trip. Even with sliders and skid plates, there was a high likelihood of damage.

Buck Lake and Ellis Peak Trails w/
    @GiantsFanDan
    Presley (4Runner)

We started on the Blue section of Buck Lake Trail. One of the roughest blue trails we've ever been on. After about an hour, we got to the campsite.
    4E0094F0-FC58-4D1A-9F59-EC6B89E962A3.jpg

Right next to beautiful Buck Lake.
    55858FF2-12FC-4B20-9466-4614032EF460.jpg
    96C1BDC3-C813-4B6B-B8A6-AC7629B027BF.jpg

Then we started up the Red Section. Could see Lake Tahoe in the background.
    2052E756-87DE-4BA7-9714-A81B8A507CDA.jpg

Most of it looked like this. Then our buddy Presley broke a front axle so I had to pull him up the rest of the trail.
    7CE7B40D-2020-4449-83D3-904C768A3617.jpg

Didn't tow very long before we ran into this monster. This was at the very peak of the trail. I actually tried pulling him up to a tiny spot where he could turn his truck around but I had to get about halfway up this section. Wasn't possible. So we were left with no choice but for him and Dan to back up about a half mile back to the lake. There was absolutely nowhere to turn around on this tight trail.
    2150BA12-0894-4662-9371-08B79EDFA7D4.jpg

The trail was pretty steep and rocky and very difficult to back up and Presley got too close to the edge. Dan tried pulling him from behind but that just got his wheels hanging off the edge. So now they needed me to pull him out from the front.
    1E5162C2-EE74-4499-8629-1DAE6344ADB6.jpg

I didn't want to back up the whole way so I decided to go up the really rough section and turn around. Then my dumbass gets hung up on my sliders.
    C3CC7E3D-0FBE-436A-ADBF-D1BC8F766EA7.jpg

And a giant rock right behind my rear diff. Only way I was getting out was forward or try some sketchy shit with my Hi Lift. I chose going forward.
    1C4A54AF-0437-42A9-9D9A-682C31920303.jpg

So at this point, Presley is stuck in the middle. I'm stuck in the front. Dan is the only truck we have left in the back. So we were left with no choice but for Dan to drive a couple hours all the way around the mountain to come pull me out from the front. After about an hour and a half of digging, moving rocks, and setting up the TredPros, I finally got unstuck and up the mountain. Right as Dan was arriving. Then I turned around and went back down the difficult section. Much easier than going up. And Dan had to drive all the way around the mountain again. Sorry Dan.
    6B3F0FD7-511A-43C9-B700-B3E0A60EABE7.jpg

Got down to Presley, pulled him off the edge of the cliff and watched him back down the mountain for about an hour with Matt walking behind him, spotting him from behind.
    0D1E76F5-7048-4023-8186-7F596A3880F5.jpg

Got to camp, set up for the night, had dinner, then had to drive Matt back to his truck near the entrance. Was about 30 minutes each way in the dark. Coming back solo was a little sketchy as there were about 4 or 5 spots to get stuck. Warren had to do the same solo run in as he came into camp at about 4am.
    392ADE00-F5C5-49C9-9F72-AB2AE63E6E76.jpg
And that was the end of a very eventful Day 1.

Next morning, got Presley to an auto parts store to buy one tool he needed to change his axle. Luckily he brought a spare axle and between us all we had the tools to change it. We left him there and went to run Ellis Peak Trail.
    7BE6FFD5-BB3F-4DDE-AB90-DE1952E2E8B9.jpg

Ran a very long Ellis Peak trail for a few hours then climbed this rocky hill which was almost a 30* incline to find the trail ended on the top.
    4CBDE06E-420E-441F-93F6-B0BF21CEAB94.jpg

Parked the truck and climbed about 50ft to the very peak while Dan changed out his flat tire.
    ACD61DE5-E7B7-43A9-AF61-BB4C5C496BA2.jpg

Awesome 360* view. Lake Tahoe on one side.
    E27E7B03-B561-407D-A7D2-3D163B260EEC.jpg

Snow capped Sierras on another side.
    1E43814C-C0BC-4262-B936-1E266154DC06.jpg

And a valley on the other side.
    9BB20315-2ED8-41FA-B08D-1ABB02490E2C.jpg

Back down the hill. This pic shows how steep it was.
    3914B8B8-73E0-46F9-BA7B-67FA72618380.jpg

Then the quickest way back to the lake was down that same crazy section I got stuck the day before. I wasn't too worried since I already done it once. But this time, Warren and Dan had to go down it too. The three of us, with some spotting this time, did it no problem. Going downhill you actually slide on your sliders. LOL.
    EB7EAE23-5556-4F0E-A396-32F945CFE98D.jpg

While we were running the trail, Presley got his axle replaced and left for home. Everything turned out perfectly. Next morning, had breakfast and left for home. Great trip.

I stopped recording when he got out to spot himself since he didn't trust me and Presley. I didn't start recording quick enough once he got back in his truck. He was actually yelling at us because none of us had our cameras out.
He put his passenger side tire on it and drove over it. That rock would have done some damage if too much of it had gone under the truck.

What I guessed (driving over, but did the sliders carry the truck as it slid forward?), but I can't really know how big that rock was-- looks MASSIVE. Very impressive. @joonbug's gettin' pretty good with his lines.

The pictures with Lake Tahoe in the background make me stop and stare every time, they are amazing.
You forgot the part of the story where Dan and Presley both had to drive in reverse down the crazy ass trail for about a 1/4 mile before there was a place to turn around. They both impressed me.

Was on the sliders all day long. They took a beating.

And I crunched in both my rear fenders a bit. Can’t really tell except for my mudflaps being totally crooked now. Other than that, just the normal stripes and 2 broken antennas.0361D1C9-8004-4297-A9FD-B94A02DE746A.jpg
