That’s because you have the small red wire in the wrong location. The way you have it in the picture it is the same as having the small wire directly connected to the battery because it is in the power slot.

You’ll probably need to check fuses. You had power going the wrong way through the small red wire.

It works if I have it hooked up to power still. Just no rem. It stays on when truck is off

I had it just like the previous pic. Then I have it so the red wire goes directly into the rem slot and now it doesn’t work at all

It sounds like you may have blown the fuse upstream from the small red wire on the plug and play harness. When you connect it to power slot, it feeds backwards bypassing the blown fuse.

If you want to be sure, take out the small red wire, turn the key on and see if you have voltage.

Got it it was the acc fuse under steering wheel. I hooked up that wire bc the pic in the instructions looked like it went there. Thank you so much @AZBoatHauler

Also I have a remote start and I bumped the add a fuse for my ignition and after all that the truck wouldn’t start for ten mins until I found what happened. That ten minutes probably took a year off of my life. Def not quitting my day job

Reviving this thread to ask a question since I finally got to this installation - is there a trick to getting the ring terminals on the power wires? I tried pliers for clamping, I tried hammering them down, I tried soldering them in place - nothing would stick, they'd all slip off like I didn't clamp them at all.
I've destroyed all the terminals already so have to go buy new ones, hoping I can find screw tightening ones. The rest of the install went so easily, even sliding the wires through the grommets only took a few seconds (hardest part was getting the nub cut off) yet I'm pulling my hair out with what sounded like the easiest part.

This is also what James told me but when I use a SMD DD-1 the signal distorts at a gain of ½ for the sub and ¼ for the F/R outputs. Now...I also set the these by first measuring distortion of the stock JBL headunit (signal distorted at a volume 57 out of 60). So if I use these settings does that just mean I will get the same performance just at a lower volume?

Also, should the sub be set to Int or Ext with the stock JBL HU?

Crimping pliers. Beefy ones. Not the all in one electrical plier type thing. Hardware store will have them. Channelock makes a good one.

ETA... The kit has 4 gauge terminals and4 gauge wire. You can step down to 6 gauge terminals to make them a little easier to crimp by hand.

Thanks, I'll get a few of those to try. I'm hoping the audio store will have some of the screw tightening ones too. The butcher block on my toolbox took a beating yesterday trying to hammer the 4 gauge ones that came with the kit.
