You either have 4 wheel drive knob or the coin holder in 2 wheel drives

I'm working on turning the coin holder into a phone holder. I removed the coin holder today and was surprised that there was an electric plug connected to it. Is this plug for the 4x4 switch?

I just got finished. I bought a Scosche Mount from Walmart and door hole filler plate and a sliding door pull. I was amazed that the sliding door hole pull was the perfect size. I drilled a hole in the Scoshe plate and stuck it on the sliding door pull. Then I drilled a hole into the pull for the screw that I had found in my garage. The screw was a bit long, but it was all I had.

Then I used one of the filler plates which went on the back of the dash plastic. I added some washers and a nut. I tightened it up and was done.

After you pull the coin holder out, it's easy to just pull that area of the dash out. My job would have been easier if I had a smaller screw, but I had enough room to get my hand behind ther

While it doesn't use the coin holder, I was in search of a phone holder that kept the phone in a usable position in a good eye-line and that didn't obscure any of my controls.

    I got one of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X4YDKTF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The holder is excellent and holds the phone very well. It allows for the phone to be easily placed and removed from the holder, and it is a wireless charger. The only problem with it was that the mount is rather large, and I couldn't find a placement for it that wasn't in the way of something or didn't obstruct my view through the windshield. I don't like the air vent mounts as they can damage the vent vanes over time, and the CD player mount is not feasible.

So I got one of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009AYLYWA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It is a hard point with a 17mm ball that fits the mount.

This combination allowed me to mount the phone holder/charger just about anywhere on the dash that I wanted. My placement was just above the coin holder location (or 4WD selector on my model) and still allowed me to access all of the controls as well as keep the phone at a usable eye-line.

(This hard point is similar, but it has a measure of articulation as well as providing a small bit more clearance between the dash and the phone mount/charger. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BLSBYPK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).

Did you have to tear up the coin holder to get it out? I managed to finagle mine out one time, to do the cell phone mount, but got tired of looking at the hole, stuck it back in, now I can’t get it out again. Should have taken a picture‍♀️

I don't believe so. I think I just pulled it out. You will have to pull out the trim (not all the way) that it is attached to in order to install everything. Pull the trim and try to pop it out from behind.
