Yeah man, I’ve had one or two phone conversations with Toyota Canada (before buying the truck) and had a few smaller issues I discussed with service advisors. I’m wondering if we can blame this on Toyota corporate or if this is a people not giving a fuck about their jobs anymore issue. That’s the world we live in up here now. People doing the bare minimum to get by. I could just hear in every single one of their voices they couldn’t wait to get rid of me so they could get back to sitting on their ass.

Them not giving a rat’s a$$ reminds me when I stopped by the Lexus/Toyota dealer last year to enquire about the new LC. Sat down with the only sales guy there, told him I wanted info on the LC, he swings his monitor around to me and asks me if I see a LC (he was on the Toyota Canada homepage). I say “no” and he says “neither do I”. Tells me they have no clue, no information, and can’t help me. Then goes on to explain the long wait times for some of their models like the Tundra, updated Highlander, and Sienna mini-van (4 yrs!). I think back then the wait times for a Tundra were 1-2 yrs! Serves Toyota right for what is happening to them. Imagine telling folks they would have to wait 4 f’king yrs for a mini-van. F’king ridiculous! Like living in Russia and waiting 10 yrs plus for a Lada. Toyota can go to hell as far as I’m concerned.

Just be careful to not offend anyone by expecting them to do their job!

Compared to other things we do as a family the Tundra would be about 50th on the things to worry about list.

I presently have two Toyotas, and will be selling my Tundra soon. Surely will never but another Toyota. The holier-than-thou attitude did it for me.

Does the venting help you feel better? I hope so.
It looks like you go about 20 years between trucks so good to explore the other choices out there.

He just got that one recently. He took on a poorly maintained, rusted-out 2007 from his daughter and is mad at Toyota for all the neglect-induced repairs.

So, who here is going to revise their oil change intervals from every 5,000 miles to 10,000 miles? Since these motors will get pulled and disposed of soon, why treat them like we want them to go 200,000 miles?

This is the second time I have said this, why would I treat the truck I intend to keep like a POS rental car? Just because the engine is possibly going to be replaced doesn't allow you to mistreat it and try to blow it up. I don't get it.

I'm with you on this too. Oil changes are cheap and my time is not. I'd try to keep the miles rolling on the truck for as long as possible. After a few thousand swaps the people who are going to be doing them will be able to do the job without an issue.

Just came across this on one of my motorcycle forums in regards to how little oil my new Moto Guzzi V85 carries in it's sump, less than 2l. But seems like it would be the way to go for reliability, especially of the main bearings... wonder why manufacturers don't go this route.
