My 13 year old niece had never heard a busy tone in her life. She has only ever known voicemail or no service.

OP are you saying you're doing all this old man stuff but are still 30 years from retirement?

If you wear Hawaiian shorts, you need the fedora. No feather sticking out though.

I'm 41. Most people guess me around 35 if my head and face are shaved, thank god. I've been pulling gray hairs out of the outside of my ears since I was in my early 30's. I pluck them obsessively. I have a trimmer but I can't stand feeling a shorty on there. Gotta take that thing out at the root.

I've tried putting them back on my head, but no matter how much I water them they won't take root. I don't understand why....?

Shorter shorts are in fashion now.

Crocs (vomit) are popular with kids (I make fun of mine regularly for it).

On a positive note, I am NOT wearing Nike Monarch's or New Balance 608's.

I do appreciate a quality shoe and top notch mattress now more than ever though.

Talk to him and see if you can't work it out. If not, set that friendship aside for awhile. Friends come and go but true friends are worth making an effort to keep.

I'll be 60 next time around and have one friend from high school that I talk to at least once a week. We also get together for a few days at least once a year, usually for some car event. The rest of them, I have no idea where they are or what they're doing and really couldn't care less.

Bottom line: Relationships are hard and take work. Only you can decide if the guy/friendship is worth the effort.

    Best of luck...

    I do that too.

I won't wear shorts, no way no how no where. Never. Jeans or slacks all the way.

One of my grandfathers will only wear shorts. The other one would get out his winter coveralls when it hit 40F or below.

Dad shoes were a thing for bit recently too. I tried on some 608s the other day. Kinda comfy actually lol. I did not buy them. Good shoes are a must for my job in the hospital or else my back and legs are killing me. Feet used to kill me until I found out about merino wool blend socks. I learned the mattress thing years ago after winding up in the hospital with my back killing me and my shoulders aching. I still have trouble sleeping in any bed that ain't mine.

I couldn't resist not laughing HAHA!! I told myself, I would never wear monarch or NB 608 either. LOL!!!
I appreciate a good comfy shoe also but I try to get some more "in style" shoes. (I was kinda a sneaker head when I was younger) I like the Nike airmax shoes, Adidas with the cloud foam. Or my go to classic Adidas shell toes(although not as comfy to me anymore, I think I may be stuck in denial haha). For work/dress shoes, I just stick with good ol' classics...plain black lace ups. Or some dark brown ones.

What aggravates me is Oxfords were not "in" when I was at the age of needing my first proper dress shoes for job interviews and the like. I checked every store and ended up with some ugly, square-toed pieces of shit. But I don't wear them often enough to justify replacing them now that you can buy Oxfords again.

I started using my dad's old extra-long shoe horn. He left it behind years ago when I bought my parents house. It was bent near the bottom so I got around to fixing it right. It works like a charm even on shoes with laces. It's like the 31" one in the photo.

Yep. But there is youth to consider. When my youngest daughter started dating her now husband, he'd roll by with his friends. Loud pipes and a train horn at 3 am. They've been married for about 8 years now. He's awesome. The one my oldest married is MIA and he never did that. POS but not annoying at first. I always tried to remember what an agile I was as a teen and buffer what my kids did. I think it worked.
