One of my coworkers was telling me about her parents taking her to see Return of the Jedi in 1983 back when the theatre only showed one movie at a time.

    Oh the horrors!

Yep, saw Live and let Die in theater, Great Waldo Pepper and the Poseidon Adventure in the drive in.

I saw A New Hope in theater when they released the special edition in the early 90s. I wasn't older than 10 iirc.

I feel like movies were better when they were made in Technicolor.

The first movies I remember seeing in the theatre were Conan the Barbadian at the military base theatre and Enter the Dragon/Firefox (Clint Eastwood) double feature at a drive in in the early 80s when I was about 10.

Saw a whack of Godzilla and pirate/adventure type movies at the base theatre too. Bowling league for military kids Saturday morning was a normal activity then upstairs to watch inappropriate movies and eat cheap popcorn.

Do Arcades still exist? My brother and I were probably 10 and 14 (maybe even younger than that) when M&D would send us downtown Toronto or Winnipeg on the bus to kill an afternoon playing pinball and video games. I wonder what they were doing? :eek2:

I'm 45, so some of these things I'm just beginning to experience myself. For those who are older, there is one thing that has boggled my mind for years about old car guys (old guys who are into cars, to clarify)... why do old car guys find the coolest cars to restore/mod, then paint them in pastel colors?

I remember seeing the movie Predator on Ft Benning Georgia’s base theater full of Ranger Bat Boys (My dad was one of them). I hit puberty after the mini gun scene. I was seven. Red man was sold out for weeks after that movie.

I remember when the drive in movies (@fisherman951 should know the theater on Van Buren) had little speakers you clipped to your door to hear the sound. Now they give you a radio station to tune into, but I'm glad they're still open.

I used to love going there and I would jump start peoples cars for beer after the movie.

Yes! Its a terrible shame! I told my wife the last time we went to that Lowes that Ken Miles died about a block away. She didn't believe me so I had fun Googling the map afterward. My dad had booklets and such from watching races there when he was young.

Go for the LS430. Less gadgetry to go wrong if you want the car to outlive you. Also in stock form it drives so soft it’ll be like driving around your mattress, that’s suspended by another mattress.

I’m not even mid 30’s yet but all I want to do is lounge in the yard drinking beer.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Temptations, Hall and Oates, The Whispers, Kool and the gang, etc.

I hate it when the things I like become popular, and people act like they're some new discovery.
Love me some Hall & Oates!

I used to drive around a Lincoln Mark VIII that was also like riding a cloud. Loved that car.

There you @Darkness , that make you feel better? In my early 20s I was so old I proudly drove a Lincoln Mark VIII. And I've only gotten older since then.

True story, when I was in high school I only wore black t shirts with white prints that I got at the 5 for $10 store and dickies shorts that I would buy for $15 at the swap meet with black socks because my shoes would bleed color on white socks. My friends thought I dressed like a cholo but I was a just a broke skateboarder. Nobody else at my school dressed that way, cholos were close but they wore knee high white socks and different shoes.

Ten years later I was picking up my younger sister from high school and saw a gang of kids dressing the same way.

I asked her whats up with those kids? "Those are called bros" she said. I replied, "Bros? What are bros?" She said "They're like gangsters who skate, they usually beat up the emo kids".

Was I the founder of these kids style?

Yup those AAA shirts, the store I used to buy from was on Magnolia and Everest, same parking lot as Nikkos burger. I couldn't afford Nikkos but it smelled amazing.

I got the Dickies at the swap meet or sometimes at that store or Adam's mart (Harbor Freight now I think). Dickies outlet was a ripoff.

YES! Wizards! It was in the corner of that lot, I remember that place. That whole lot is different now. Probably the closest you can get to that now is D'cearos if they are still in business, on Arlington and Adams. They had decent sandwiches and pizza in 1999 anyway.

I did have a few pairs of Ben Davis, I preferred their front pockets over Dickies but I didn't prefer their price. They were $4 more than Dickies and when I was 16 that was a lot lol!

No way man, that jogger shit is beyond me. To me if you are going baggy, go baggy. My brother in law wears those pants, I have no idea how his wife puts up with it. Looks like he's wearing size 28 pants and can't get them on right because he's a 38 gut. Then again he is the guy who's handiwork you've all seen, the famous towel rack.
