My wife is really annoyed with me lately. I've been reading over these forums for a few weeks now(obsessively). I have a 2005 Tundra and I've not shopped new ones until lately and for the first time discovered the TRD Pro. Wow! I have never seen one on the road! Now I must have a White TRD PRO!

I love the look of the 2017 Grill over the 2019(don't know why, but hands down the 2017 grill is way better). But I must have the LED lights, so....

Option 1: Find a used 2017 and swap the headlights.
Option 2: Get a 2019 and swap the grill, but I have to deal with the TSS relocation.

I'll have to compare options between 2017 and 2019. A moon roof is nice but not a deal breaker.

Question: Can I buy a 2017 TRD Pro grill only without the white frame?

    Thanks
    Adam

    Welcome
The insert you can swap out, but you will have to look for it separately or buy the whole grill and then sell the frame portion. However if you get a 19 the TSS sensor will need a bracket to be relocated to function properly. If you buy a 17 you will need a wiring harness for the new lights. (Only guessing because you needed one for the 18's to fit in a 17)

Finding a 17 and adding the headlights will definitely be cheaper. Plus you don’t have to mess with that Toyota safety nonsense.

Headlight swap is easy peasy. Best mod I’ve ever done on any of my vehicles.

Welcome from the Hoosier State! It's hard to say which option is better IMHO. If you want a double-cab, then "pre-owned" is your only option, as the '19 doesn't come in double-cab.

Good luck on the search and EVERYONE on this forum has had the same obsession with searching for the Pro's. (Thought my wife would leave me a few times, too...)

Im not quite ready to make the purchase so i think i’ll have to compare options on them. I will say that i dont care for the hood scoop on the 19.
