Hopefully hypertech is working on solving this problem. I realize it's just a sensor, but what happens when your towing and it comes on and it isn't because of the hypertech. Sort of makes me wish I hadn't ordered it. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I agree with the unknown ECL and that is why I'm getting the gauge. Once you see the difference and shift patterns you'll want to keep it. Gonna let the Mrs calm down on my spending and might get the gears changed, 1200 bucks so need to save a little

So, is the performance you get from the interceptor worth the money and CEL issue?

I would have to say yes, the CEL is annoying but the power is there. Ive tried with just tow/haul and no interceptor and it's still not as quick on response than with the interceptor

Are you going to send the unit back to hypertech for them to try and find a resolution or are you going to contact them and see if they can figure out a better tune that works with t/h mode? I'm chomping at the bit to buy one of these but still unsure. Thanks for keeping us up to date with the progress.

yeah keepin it. Plus on another thread about cai's I saw DirtyDeeds recommend it. clearin code and movin on. Also like to point out that it was expected and saw it on csu's posts. Think if you're worried about the code throwin and not sure if it is interceptor or something else then definitely get a code reader/clearer to find out if it's somethin besides interceptor, I'm gettin wireless/wifi one

I already have the original ultra gauge that i bought for my tacoma. I'm good there. So this last time did it throw a code in t/h or just normal?

Tow/haul, went for a little while fine then slowed down for turn around and then resumed and there it was

can you still tell a difference in power in normal mode too or is the real difference in t/h mode?

Yes I can feel difference with interceptor and t/h, without interceptor t/h is better than normal, but add the interceptor and it's better than t/h alone

Same for me. I used to unhook the HT on long trips while towing but now I've learned to ignore the light. But the truck is super fun to drive in t/h with the HT installed and in manual mode!

    Oh one or two.
Yep same one here I'm not worried about it. I'm getting the Magunson super charger as soon as it's ready for the 2016 but this HT tuner will be staying on until that happens.

heads up, I noticed that the programmer was updatable the other day. The app on computer I mean. So this mornin I took off the k and n cai and reinstalled stock. Reset code and put the interceptor back on and hit the tow/haul button and launched into the stratosphere with force. No CEL yet. Much happier with stock cai

Also reprogrammed interceptor for stock cai

Just made it home. Not a lot more go than the unichip, but definitely feels better off the line. At about the 45 mile mark I had to climb a long steep grade. About halfway up...CEL. Still ran fine though. Might just stick with it and follow along with the ultra gauge as well.

It's better than stock though right? And have you updated the unit like Dave said that he had to? Maybe they did send out a fix for it.

Yes I did. It made me download the new software before I could update it for the cai. Yes it is better than stock. I might do the same as Dave though and go back to my stock intake. Planning on going camping next weekend. We will see how it does pulling the camp trailer. With the unichip I couldn't hardly tell it was behind me.

I wonder if their programming for aftermarket cai's is the real problem.

Yeah I'm hoping Dave doesn't get any codes with the stock air box. That's what I will be doing next.

If you have a K&N filter on your truck, the oil from the filter might be getting on the MAF causing the readings to be out of spec. You might want to pull it out and inspect it. In tow haul mode the RPMs rev higher before shifting so there's a higher rate of air flow which might be sucking the oil from the filter into the MAF. Just a thought. That's why I won't run the K&N because of that possibility.

I don't see any oil on it. When my cel came on I wasn't in t/h mode, but I was climbing a grade. So yes I'm assuming it does have something to do with a high rev. Hoping to here from Dave that the stock intake helped! If so I'm taking the torque stealing k&n off... I might anyway.

The k and n oil thing is a myth anyway, but the rpm stealer isn't a lie. So far no light, haven't done much drivin as I work at home so usually just go get my kid from school. So far no light. My ultra gauge got shipped out today and there's an app that hooks upto it with MAF gauges, so when that gets here I'm gonna see exactly it is doin when it does. I'll have choice to clear and maybe it'll reset it self and I'll gun the shit out of it and see what happens. All in all still happy with it and couldn't see drivin without it on 35's. Next up is gears

I know what you mean about big tires. I've got 37's and it's fine until I babe to pull a load. Gears will be a future upgrade for me as well.

Here is what the tech guy at hypertech told me.
"This is a Toyota issue; it is not being addressed by Hypertech; many get
this issue without using our product."

That sounds like they dont know whats causing it so pass the blame. I haven't had that issue and I have 11k miles on my 2016. I have towed plenty of trailers too. I was thinking about eventually get a hypertech for my truck but not real sure now.

That was exactly what he was doing. I told him I've drove hard and pulled trailers and never had a problem while the unichip was installed. The quote was his answer. Pretty shitty if you ask me.
