You know multitasking, doesn't really work, right? One problem at a time...when that one is fixed you go to the next.

If I didn't know how to multitask I wouldn't be able to do my job.

Lol...not really...they should have people that help you...or you should be training help. We seem to live in a culture that people take on too much. I built my entire home myself in 8 months while working ..I never felt like I was multitasking. I would just decide what was the priority...and finish it.

If only it hadn't gotten off track in the first place...

What you describe is multitasking. Deciding what items take priority among a number of important items is multitasking. I have help, I have a whole team of fellow engineers who work hard to make the impossible possible. I am proud of my team and what we do every day.

Nice house. I'm not sure how it's relevant to this thread, but nice nonetheless. You were your own GC? 8 months is impressive. The house I just built took longer and I wasn't the GC.

No ...I wasn't GC...I only subbed out my geothermal. General contractors normally sub out quite a bit more... house is only 2100 sq ft. I brought up the house to demonstrate that one person can do a lot. Kids or waking up to kids has been the best part of my day. Just showing how one day your changing diapers, next your building their "home". Multitasking is a individual term...hence no team.

I disagree. It takes a team to effectively multitask in regards to big projects. Your GC subcontracts all that work out, you now have multiple tasks occuring nearly simultaneously, all working toward a common goal and relying on one another to realize that goal. This is precisely what multitasking is. Meanwhile, you have one person or group keeping track of all the various teams and making sure that they meet their timelines.

Project management IS multitasking, be that project a fleet of packaging robots or a house.

A little of this and a little of that.
Got up at 05:00. Had a Dr. Pepper as I woke up. Went to the grocery and bought food for this week's family skiing trip. Sitting on Tundras.com writing to you people.

You shouldn't do that, you'll inevitably screw one of those things up! Doing more than one thing simultaneously is dangerous and impossible! Don't even get me started on that time i tried to chew bubble gum and walk at the same time...near disaster
