I'd also be concerned about a steer tire blowout on a class A.

True .... but there's also axle weight to consider. Your door placard also lists the max axle weights f/r. You'll have to scale to check that.

I dont wanna. I'm scared of the number. I'm probably just gonna bite the bullet and get a damn ram dually, turns out you just can't have too much truck.

Love it if you use it. I would not daily drive a modern diesel especially if you have short trips. I did a CP3 conversion. You only have to worry about the 2019-2020 Cummins with the CP4. They are all recalled anyway and put back the CP3.
2017 and newer GMs have the HP4 Denso fuel system.

Stay away from the HO motor after Cummins went to the lightweight blocks. The carbon blocks have had issues. Before I retired we hired a mechanical engineer that worked for Cummins motor department. The standard output motors are solid.

It's for reals. I was at the local U Pull It wrecking yard earlier this summer. As i was waking around i spotted a ford ranger with coils in the rear. The more i looked at it, the more and more i was amazed by someone's engineering marvel. I'm pretty sure the coils are from the front of a different ranger.

My friend has a 2019 2500 4wd SRW that he bought brand new off the lot. He currently has right about 650,000 miles on it. I helped him replace a front axle U joint about 500,000 miles ago and a failed engine mount at 630,000. In fact a few other things failed at around 500,000 miles as well…heater core and transmission. His truck definitely sees quite a bit of action. I’ve done a few transport trips with him. He’s confident the truck will easily make it to 1,000,000 miles. It will probably take him another four years to pull off that feat. He’s had a dually before, and appreciates the extra stability in the higher winds and twisty mountain passes, but 100% of the rest of the time he didn’t like it at all.

I've never owned a diesel and I don't think I'm ready to start, I know for sure I don't want the hemi though, I've heard horror stories of flattened cam lobes from oil starvation. I haven't heard anything bad about the 6.2. I sure wish the tundra was a heavier truck.

The Ford 6.2L motor is pretty decent. My work truck was a F250 6.2L. It did truck stuff. I would whipple charge that one too. Most tuners have been seeing 500hp

I think most people would like to see a Tundra HD truck. Nissan tried it with the Titan XD and it failed miserably (especially with the 5.0 Cummins). The market share is absorbed by the big three and for good reason.

One of my good friends had a 2022 F-350 tremor with the 7.3L/10 speed and that was an impressive truck. I would have no need for the Tremor package but a nice Platinum F-350 would be nice.

I mean…i suppose it will work for a short period?…but since the coils are mounted directly to the bed’s sheetmetal (and not under the frame), then the bed will slowly get smashed up…exactly like what’s happening in the pic.

I think what is holding it back is because they want to use the same diesel as the hilux and it's just too dirty for America's soft hands. I'd pay a premium for this truck with a hino engine and 1 ton rating.

Do y'all have a preference for brakes for the tundra? Power stop and stop tech are the ones I'm familiar with, but that was on a sports car.

Those were from the initial transport of the camper, I didn't have mounts so it was resting on the bedsides, and I used ratchet straps to hold it down. That would've happened to any truck and it wasn't unexpected.
    Thanks for the brake recommendation.

I, like many others here, use our trucks as trucks, not mindlessly abuse them because we don't know any better. And simply because we do not abuse them, it hardly means we are driving like a bitch.

As much as Toyota guys like to brag, and this is the level of confidence you have in the truck? I'll log miles and keep y'all posted. Lol

These trucks don’t have full floating axles. They aren’t designed to carry a 1500lb camper. That’s not the trucks fault.

Any guesses on mileage before it gives the ghost? I'm at 202,000 now. I'm going to take it easy on her but I'm not gonna baby it by any means. I understand the truck is not the right truck for the job but sometimes a guys gotta make do with what he's got. (We've all hammered on stuff with a crescent wrench)
I'm gonna say between 300k and 325k before it needs more work than I'll be willing to put into it.

It could go forever. It could also lose the rear end to a pothole day 1.

I've put about 800 miles on it with the camper just to check out stability and mileage and all that. I'm very confident that it'll be okay. I'm going to RAS next week and a tire upgrade to some 10 ply. Going to go powerstop as recommended by oldguy. Anything else you guys would recommend?
(Other than a bigger truck, lol)
