I have plans to buy a generator this year. Also got 2 fridge Freezers a chest freezer and Overstocked pantry. Also loaded up on multi vitamins and supplements. When food gets scarce so does nutrition.
Also have food trained multiple critters/ possums/raccoons to visit...mostly by accident. I’m feeding an injured feral cat and trying to catch the wee bugger...

I’ve never been a “prepper” however, last year really opened my eyes to how uncivilized the USA has become.

I think that was Moore, OK. My brother and his wife missed complete devastation by about 1/4 mile. I went the following day to help him clean up. It was as bad as I have seen.

I have lived in OK most of my 63 years and that's the only time I recall they advised people to leave their homes. Foundations were all that was left.

I once worked with a guy from the NE that moved here. He had one in his home when the warnings went off. His wife told him he needed to get in the shelter with her and her mother. He said, no thanks, I'd rather just die right here in my recliner.

I did some research on storing frozen food a while back. If it s kept frozen at zero degree or lower it will last indefinately, but if above that, food degrades over time from bacteria and other things. I guess with canned goods if expiration dates don t bother you they can last indefinately too.

I purchased a freeze dryer for this. I have a few months of excellent food. Close to a water source and water filter devices. Need to look at fuel and other things. Have to start somewhere right.

We have been buying additional canning lids every time we go shopping. Could hardly believe how scarce they were this past summer. Canning lids were the new toilet paper.

I remember my folks used to can pickles. To this day I haven t tasted any store boughten that are as good as the ones they canned. They also canned a lot of grape juice too. Once in a while I would find a jar that fermented. For a 10 year old that was like striking gold and what parents didn t know didn t hurt them:D

I am not concerned about an apocalypse, but I do live in a remote area and I am prepared for short term inconveniences. I probably have enough food in the house for up to a month at any given time. There is plenty of game available, especially if it comes to eating squirrels and such, and I have spring water on the property. I also heat with wood and have plenty of wood available if needed. The only thing I would run short of is fuel for the generator and chainsaws and things like that. I can live without that stuff if necessary but I don't want to.

We were cut off one time for about ten days with no power and no access to stores and hospitals and such. No power means no well and no refrigerators/freezers. I didn't have a generator at the time, but even of I did I would not have had enough fuel for more than a week or so even just running the generator intermittently. It was inconvenient, but we looked at it like a camping trip and knew that it was temporary so we got by just fine.

Never underestimate your victim... errr neighbor. You know what people always say when they find out their next door neighbor has a dozen bodies buried under his house. "I never suspected, he was such a quiet guy".

I have a theory on World Banking. They used to make big money on Wars. I think they have figured out the Global thing is better when every last person is buying and selling instead of killing each other. Some small fishing villages of the world, that just 20-30 years ago were without any modern convenience, now have it all. Still the same village, but running water and electric plus the cell phone!

Outside of a real pandemic or meteor crash, we’ll be buying and selling for infinity.

Yes, I am always preprepared and can hunt and fish. The farming thing is hard though which is a huge factor in long term prep. I really appreciate those who just 2 generations ago in the USA did this mostly for a living. It was natural to them and still is if they are still alive and able to walk outside. Growing, making, buying, and selling locally fostered independence back then.

Dont think I want to get close enough with the Chainsaw for a head shot?
If you just take a chunk off they can still keep coming.

Gonna want a "Gauge" to get that close!
