Just wondering if you are ready for the zombie apocalypse.
Or maybe, more realistically a prolonged natural disaster. I’m probably good for about 4 months, I’m guessing most people in Portland will have a problem after 4 days.
My back up generator is tied into our 500 gallon propane tank, so the freezers and house will be unaffected by any outages.
Curious about what you have done to be prepared?

This reminds me, I need to do a liquor store run today. Down to below 1/4 bottle of the 1.75L Monkey Shoulder.

I try to keep between 15 and 30 days on hand. Normal canned food, cereal and oatmeal, mashed potato flakes, mac n cheese, meat in the freezer, basically stuff we'll eat anyway. I looked into freeze dried last year in February, I didn't think it was worth the cost. I figure if the fit hits the shan that bad that I need to stockpile ammo to protect my hoard, that life won't be worth living anyway. I may as well cut a hole in my chair, bend over, and kiss my ass goodbye.

I figure if shtf for real, we are going mobile. We live too close to the city to stay at home. Got 5 days of dried food, water filters, fuel and ammo, arrows and broadheads. Plus seeds to start a garden wherever end up.

We'd be good permanently. But I'm in FL and we live for this shit. Got a property in the city and one in the boonies with about 100 acres, both have underground wells with pumps and generators. Enough frozen deer/fish/other game and canned veggies to last a very long time. A garden in the backyard / several fruit trees. Enough ammo and fishing gear to feed my family until the end of time. About 100 gallons of gas between non-ethanol and diesel, and 300 lbs worth of propane tanks.

Water always seems to be the biggest problem when electric shuts down. My plan is to use the 400 gal in my spa. I have chlorine and coffee filters and can boil with natural gas or propane for drinking. I would probably park the RV in my drive and live in that if it's cold, as long as my propane holds out, which I could stretch for a couple of weeks. Enough cereal grains, packaged and canned food in the pantry for probably a month at least.

If we're talking Mad Max, we have friends in the country that have told us if shit gets real, bring the RV, pack our guns and ammo, all the food and water we have, and head their direction to help them defend their spread.

We used to hide under our desks for drills during and after the Cuban missile crisis, so that threat has always been around all my life. I think "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy is the most chilling story I have read of what a post apocalyptic world could be like for survivors. No thanks, I want to go on the first strike.

    Good thread Ray.
I could always use more supplies but I should be good for 4-6 months. Gas, food and access to potable well water if our water district goes down.

Plenty of ammo if things get really wild. My house sits above the county road, 250 yards to my driveway entrance. Perfect for pew pew defense.

“One second after” is a good read.
The big question is, what scenario are you preparing for? Highest probability, I think, is a prolonged power outage caused by a natural disaster like earthquake/tsunami/volcano. Outage probably less than a month.
We have our own well and a little creek so water is not a problem.
In the event of a permanent or extremely long term event, the response is quite different. I would remove everything from my freezers and preserve it, canned, smoked, dried or pickled. Replace the propane stove in the house with a wood burner and try to not use the generator or any propane at all. This would be reserved for running power tools when needed. Definitely worth thinking about

Biggest risk in our area is tornado/severe weather/ice taking down the electric. If you live here long enough, you need to be ready.

For some reason (cost I think) they don't build basements here. Only older parts of town have them. We have this for a hidey hole. We've been in it several times with tornados close by. Being in there and hearing shingles being ripped off your roof is disconcerting.

So sad about that boating accident. Have you stocked up on slingshots?
