My dad got pulled over for tint when he was in college, but that’s the only intersection I’ve heard of specifically for tint.

I think it’s one of those things that if you get pulled over, it won’t help your case and you’ll probably get a ticket, but if you’re not a dink and don’t get pulled over you’ll be fine.

OK. Since the rear and back windows are factory smoked, putting 20% tints should make it even darker correct? 20% tints in front will keep it at 20% since there is no tint but I wonder about the back...

You are correct. The 20% on the back will be darker that 20% on clear glass.

Here is 50% on the fronts. The rears are the Factory OEM Tint Glass. There is a Professional Face and Body Model sitting in the pass side seat.

What's the approximate cost for tinting just the two front windows?

Here in TN it was around $70. I can't remember if I got ceramic or not.

Edit- It might have been $90 but I know it wasn't $150 as stated below. That seems unusually high for just 2 windows but maybe that's normal for Maine.

Just paid $150 for both fronts at 20% in Maine. Local dude that does commercial vehicles, law enforcement, etc. Does excellent work.

I voted for 35% (cause I'm old) and agree ceramic is worth the cost.
35% will appear darker due to the OEM tint on the other windows and I think it blends well. Add a light 70% ceramic on the windshield and you're golden!

I've been looking at that 70% ceramic on the windshield. That sounds interesting.

I'm old too, I was thinking 35 rears 35 front 70 windshield with something darker above that AS1 line all ceramic

The tint plus pulling the headliner and carpet then putting sound deadening mat plus insulation in. I should be golden. (doors and rear wall is done)

High Dolla Island costs was around $240 for two front side windows and the little strip at the top which is gone now as I replaced the front windshield.

$300 for 18% Ceramic on all DC windows here in GA. It was worth it. Will say it’s dark at night looking out the back but I rarely drive at night. It’s more important no one sees inside my truck to me. I like my privacy.

Legal limit sucks. I say 20-25% on front windows, 35 on rear and 50 ceramic tint on windshield. The ceramic tint on the windshield will barely be noticeable on the inside and rejects as much heat as 5 standard film plus it makes it harder to see inside from the other windows

Just make sure both windows are rolled down if you get stopped OR need to get it inspected. We had our Mini Cooper tinted in Colorado, and moved to TX. First few times, we knew the inspection people. Sold the car to the inlaws, and they just made sure both windows were rolled down. We bought the car back, and the tint started to peel on the front windows, so I finally used a hand steamer and pulled it all off.
When I had a 90 Caprice in NJ, tint was illegal on fronts, but didn't matter on rears. My buddy double tinted all the rear windows. Was pretty much like having black paint on the rear windows, until you hit the brakes and the rear deck brake lights lit up (was a retired police car)

5% on fronts, 20% over factory rear tinted glass. All ceramic for $350. Tough at night but you get used to it.

I run 15% on the fronts. Factory is 17/18%. Take into account the windshield being open, the darker 15% matches well.

I went with 5 and yes does it make night time a pain in the ass. I don't do that much night driving and when I do, it's never really far so it was worth it to me.

I paid a pretty penny for mine too. Though I paid the well known shop that's got the lifetime warranty that guarantees no bubbling or cracking. Some other cheaper places offer this too probably with the expectation that they will have to replace some tint but luck out when people sell the car or just never get the tint fixed. I would rather pay a little more to not have to deal with it later knowing I am keeping the truck for a really long time.
