Yea the bumper took the brunt of the impact, along with the grill. $2600 worth of damage. Body shop said a new OEM bumper installed was around $1000, so if I found one in that range, or covered the difference they'd put an aftermarket one on, that was my main question...

I cannot relate . personally I'd rather function over looks . I'd rather be protected than worried about my truck looking ugly to others . Looks really don't matter when you're stranded on the side of the highway with half the front end missing after hitting a deer, elk or whatever .

Actually I hit one a few months back with this bumper. It happened very fast. I was doing 45. Hit the drivers side where the shackle mount is. The deer tumbled through someone’s yard. I went back and he was gone. No damage at all. I f I didn’t have this bumper there definitely would have been damage. I’m sure one could slip through but on that day not the case.

I run a Ranch Hand Summit series with full grill guard. Had it rhinolined and never looked back. I've hit several deer at 40-50MPH and absolutely zero damage to the bumper. I slid on black ice one time and hit the back of a Chevy Equinox. I pushed that car through the intersection like a cue ball hitting an 8 ball. No damage to my truck but over $4k to the Equinox. Driver was drunk and my insurance didn't have to pay!!! I highly recommend some kind of steel bumper. Factory bumpers on the Tundra are only marginally stronger than a bumper you would get with a Toyota Corolla.

Wellllll...... gonna be awhile before I weld my bumper up, smashed the tip of my left index finger pretty good working on my old Lincoln welder. Probably gonna lose the nail and not certain it'll grow back. I can push down on the front of the nail and back lifts up showing all the meat and nail bed. Really sucks cause I wanted to weld up that bumper!

I love this bumper and bar system but, I looked at their website and where it meets up with the skid plate isn’t all that great. Did you change out your skid plate as well? Any pictures? (I plan on changing my skid plate out anyway for one with access to the oil filter)

How does this work? Were you just cut a check and spent it how you wanted? Will a body shop install aftermarket parts?

Insurance cut me a check and I installed my self. I picked up a used grill and had the body shop color match that and the new panel under the head light. Took less than 2 hours to remove the factory bumper and install the aftermarket one. I just snapped the new panel and grill on when I put back together. No need to have a body shop do it unless you have other damage.

Same experience for me on a previous truck. A wheelbarrow flew off the back of someone’s truck, I tried hard to swerve around it but the front part of the wheelbarrow, the metal bracket across in front of the wheel (wheelbarrow was upside down and sliding at me fast plus I was going 60, left a perfect indent in my bumper. I stayed with a oem bumper but I had it powdercoated before installing it, not that it would protect against flying wheelbarrows ha ha ha, but I figured the paint would hold up better. That particular truck was a magnet for disaster, the powdercoat bumper was the 3rd front bumper, the rear bumper had been replaced as well, all within a year. I traded that truck in, passed the curse on to someone else. Lol

Have any idea if the rh bumper keeps the crush cans in place at the end of frame rails?

Hit an elk or a moose with any half ton and it is game over for the truck if your at 50 mph or more even with ranch hand. Just too much mass in those creatures. Similar to a cow!

I hit a deer too and two repair quotes were over $2K each and it was very minor damage. It irked me so I took it apart and it’s all flimsy shit. I took it all off and replaced with the rough country. I had it powder coated by my guy so I know it will last. Even with the powder coat it was less than a grand.A8AFDB33-97EA-40A5-BB43-07E6B7B80586.jpg

Might want to check your frame alignment just to be sure.

To each, his own. But I think our trucks look better with the stock bumper. Just my $0.02.

Maybe it's not much help now and you're too far away, but there's a pretty good deal for a complete bumper assy. on C.L. on Greenville, S.C.:

Looks are definately a good thing for most every occasion! However, I have been in expressway traffic and had a ladder fall off in front of me, a damn moped that was strapped on to a motorhome with a come along fell off and flew over my f450 cab at 65 mph...wholly sheet! Even a partially filled cardboard box busted a fog light mount. Granted I have probably driven a million or two more miles than most have, but it can happen to anyone. Trust me you might one day be pulling a trailer down an expressway and can't suddenly change lanes and out of nowhere a large object is at your bumper or some idiot on the phone hits the wall and starts spinning like a top, had that happen too. Following too close? Expressway traffic, leave space and someone jumps in. You can't! Worse yet they have an unsecured load!! I was on the phone with 911 when the moped came loose because I knew it was coming and was very concerned for all of us behind it at the time. Those behind me had a very bad day.

Good points! Made me remember a time I was driving my wife's Tahoe in Dallas when all of a sudden a bunch of debris appeared in the lane ahead. No time to move out of the way or even slow down. Had to plow right into it. Caused a slow leak in her tire and jostled the fog light housing loose. Car behind me hit it at full speed and it destroyed their whole front end!
