Question for ya. I have a 2018 tundra, last night I hit a deer and will need some front end work. I was thinking about going to a little beefier bumper, so I'm looking for suggestions. My truck is pretty stock, leveled with an aggressive all terrain tire, I don't want to go to beefy on the bumper, but have looked at rough countries bumper. Wondering what aftermarket bumpers you all are running and won't break the bank and still look decent on a stock truck. Some of the aftermarket bumpers are sweet, but not sure how they'd look on a stock truck. Thanks for the help!!

I have the Rough Country bumper on my 2020. This first picture is with the bumper at stock height, and the other is with the lift. I had it Line-X'ed. The bumper weighs 98 pounds so you would be fine with it.

I'm sorry to hear about the accident and I am glad to hear the rest of the truck is solid.

You may want to start with you price limit and if you need a winch or other accessories on the bumper. From what I've seen bumpers can go up to $2K on the high end and about a ~$1K on the low end (a few are lower). Also do you plan on replacing the rear bumper too?

I ve hit so many deer over the years that I have thought about building a giant wedge bumper to just cut them in two and split them out the sides. Had them hit the front windshield, ran into the side, took out into the grill at 70+,quarter panels etc. the last one this year tried to jump over my bass boat but nailed one of the Talons. Just bent the brackets an inch or so. I have hit quite a few that just hit the bumper and really no damage to the truck. Even had one slip on the road and nailed the differential.
As far as bumpers go...I have no idea...just wanted to rant about the damn deer

@cfred70 I recommend heading over to CARID so you can browse the main bumpers and manufacturers available. Keep in mind there are probably just as many manufacturers not listed on their site.

Only if it has a machine that renders the deer and spits out jerky into the bed of your truck.

Just ordered the rough country diy pre runner bumper. Winch capable and light bar capable with no added cost. Just gotta weld it yourself. $399 with free shipping. 3/16 steel. I'll let yall know how it goes. Gonna be here tomorrow but probably won't weld it out for another week or two.

Edit. Couldn't save the pictures but here is the link

I smashed a deer in 2012 and then used the insurance check to get a Ranch Hand bumper in order to hopefully shrug off any further deer collisions....it’s now 2020 and I’m yet to hit another deer. Funny how that works. I’d rather have a stock bumper for the MPGs but oh well.

Love the look of it! Super jealous! Please post a pic of how many pieces are in the box that need welded. It looked like a bit from the description.

Not too sure. Think they may be some ebay headlights.

I have personally seen Ranch Hand bumpers hit large mule deer and not damage the bumper at all. Now other parts of the truck...not so much.

Here are some aftermarket bumpers I found on the internet that took pretty strong hits.

This one hit an Elk at 80 mph.

This was a deer strike. No real damage.

These were not my trucks, but I could only imagine the impact with the elk.

I haven’t hit any deer (that caused damage) since High School in Montana.

That's cool but if you hit a deer it seems like you are still going to have major damage to the grill and possibly the hood. Most deer strikes seem to impact a little higher than that right?

I hit two angus cows with a Dodge 2500 at 75mph. The noise was LOUD, but airbags didn’t even deploy. I had a GoIndustries brush guard on it. 12k in damage.

If the airbags go off on a Dodge/Ram....it’s totaled. Lol

That has a huge concern on a dodge Cummins site I was on for years.

Where you in open range and have to pay for the cows?
