I have some friends with them. I do believe you can have them welded up at the factory, but ups the price a lot.

I got a Fab Fours Matrix bumper on my 2018 and really like it. It’s not too big and can take 4 lights in the fog area, 1 light bar and a winch.

Right? I guess they were towing a trailer when this happened. Little fast for night driving, let alone towing anytime.

Same thought process here. Opted for the smaller Ranch Hand because it was cheaper and slightly lighter. Sometimes I wish I had the full one like yours, because I can’t see the bumper from the driver seat

I also really like the rear that they sell.

Not if you are coming up against a herd of Dik-Dik. The danger here is their tiny horns can pierce your tires.

Ohh that ones not mine. I’m still rocking the stock bumper but I live out in the woods and I’m considering a beefy upgrade due to all the deer that is around.

Lol. Op asked for opinions. I gave mine. Why spend $$$ for a scenario that has only ever happened once, may never happen again, and only hangs a significant amount of weight off the front end of an already low mpg and heavy truck. He doesn't need it for winch applications or any off road adventures.

Astetically they aren't appealing to most and hurt resale.

I've put them on my jeeps but it was for a purpose and they significantly improved looks and function. The OP doesn't seem to be needing either.

I recommend the Ranch hand bumpers as well , I'm currently saving up for one myself , I drive rural highways daily and have had a few close calls with deer over the past year .

If deer are abundant in your area I would suggest something that will protect your grille and lights as well. This is Schrockworks. Those Ranch Hand bumpers are nice as well. Yes I would definitely go aftermarket.

Got the bumper in today, here is a little sneak peek! Everything looks perfect with good fit up and exceptional quality. 3/16 steel with 1/2in lugs for recovery. Obviously not all pieces shown. Comes with a nice book of instructions but I suggest downloading them off of their website for better quality color pictures, these are black and white. 20201201_182105.jpg 20201201_182056.jpg 20201201_182049.jpg

Steel bumpers are nice, especially for deer/critters. Be wary of poorly engineered ones though. From what i understand from what an engineer explained to me, in a collision with another vehicle or object, you want things like the bumper to absorb energy. Its the premise of crumple zones. There are plenty of cases of frames being bent and totaling trucks from transfer of energy from a bumper that is too rigid, or "overbuilt" which then goes to the next path of least resistance - frame rails. Youll see trucks that dont have a scratch on them from a collision that then have constant alignment issues and poor tire wear from frame inconsistencies. Things like bolts that are designed to shear etc. are a good sign.

I think you should strap that deer to your bumper instead as a warning. You'll never hit another deer.

Oh, haha well alright then. I wouldn't buy a new bumper unless you wreck yours on a deer, and then I'd suggest a stock replacement unless you want to do what I did and hang a heavy ass bumper on the front end only to not hit a deer for 8 years.

Makes perfect sense. Why not have the insurance company pay for it. The only thing is it would be nice to avoid some damage instead of waiting till it’s damaged and then getting it fixed.

Thanks for all the replies...I guess I wasn't clear in my OP, I was just wondering if it's worth looking at aftermarket parts as I know the stock bumper I'll probably get dinged for $1000 from the shop...just looking for something that "looks good"...dont' really care about it protecting the truck from another deer, just was going to use this chance while the bumper was off to put something else on..

Wouldn't a deer go right through the big opening and through the grill anyway?

Not sure how much damage you have to your stock bumper. My whole bumper was trashed. You cant buy a completed bumper from Toyota. You have to order all of the individual parts to assemble. Best price I found was around $1200 for a used complete OEM bumper from Ebay. I paid $595 for my aftermarket bumper from Extreme Terrain. Its easy enough that you can install a new bumper yourself.
