Just an update - Stock CV boots on LT leaked. Maybe its the tool that didn't seal it well or the installer(haha) They will be coming off again shortly and I will have the same shop that did them before do it again as those never leaked one bit.

My sdhq boot is still holding up. But one the last trip I noticed the new cv joint was already making noise

I don't feel the tool made the bands tight enough, but I had to pull one apart also cause I forgot the snap ring so it wasn't as tight either. I haven't even been off-road with them yet.

I promise you it's not the bands. I've had mine redone 6 or 7 times and used two different style clamps and they always leaked

The only thing that solved it was a 3rd shop and/or sdhq boots.

I still don't know if it's the different material of the boots (softer) or the amount of grease being used. My other side stopped leaking a while ago

naww same bands that were on my previous ones that didn't leak. I just wasn't able to get them as tight as I thought they should have been or as the ones that came off. I didn't have SDHRQ boots before either and never leaked one bit. The DIY tools sucked cause I broke two different tools but still wasn't happy with the third tool either.

Then it's gotta be the amount of greased used because it's definitely not the bands

inner??? That is the easy one cause the surfaces are clean when you band them. Its the outer one that is a huge PITA to keep clean before sealing up and banding. They need a grease zerk so you can put it together and then add the grease after. LOL

Not sure where mine is leaking exactly - maybe I will run some safety wire around it to act as a second seal. lol Just know there is grease everywhere and could be inner but looks to be the outer

@joonbug leaked around that mileage too. Toyota was able to cover it 1 time under warranty. Now his boots are suctioned and the bellows are rubbing

I feel ya brotha.. inner tie rod boots can be slid back a bit. They just keep the dust out the inner joint. If it's hitting the arm you need to check it out.
It all apart of the game. add shit to break shit, break shit to add shit etc..

It’s just the way we use them, have to leak. Heat the shit out of them and push grease out, no torn boot, clean and ignore is what I would do. Maybe there is a sweet spot with grease quantity, boot tension, but good luck with that. Sometimes it is what it is.
That I would worry about, too much air, not enough grease. Why I fix my own junk, know the dummy to blame. Way better to push some grease out.

Not suctioned. But i am ok with grease getting out, just don't want dirt in. There is still enough grease to lubricate. Don't think dirt will get in unless the boot comes off the joint

@osidepunker any updates on the SDHQ boots. Recently switched to LT and I busted my passenger side inner CV boot and lost a band. Grease everywhere. I've been looking at picking up their replacement set.

Nope. She gone. I never noticed anything and still haven't. The only reason i found it was i just so happened to see grease on the LCA and crawled under check it out. The top of the boot has about a 1 inch cut in it.

@osidepunker is wheeling this weekend so probably won't get back to you 'til Monday but he's really good with sharing info and trying to help people so I'm sure he'll respond. But, I do believe he's having luck with the SDHQ boots. Now tires...... that's another story.:D

hahaha I sure am making use of those tire certs #drivebyfeel

Hey man the sdrhq boots are working fine. No leaks and that the biggest benefit. I think the root problem is the factory boots just dont stretch enough for some suspension setups.

I did get a pinhole leak on a boot on one of the creases after only a few thousand miles. but seems to be an isolated incident
