I am on stock rims, I think a 2” spacer lift and they are 18s because even though one may not off-road much it is nice to have enough sidewall for the occasional curbcheck.

Old post, but helpful...exactly what I was looking for! I have a 2021 TRD Sport CM on order, and was planning to swap out the silver wheels/tires for black rims and a bit more aggressive tread.

My general plan was to buy a reasonably priced Used/take-off 20” TSS/duratec set for the easy fix. Pretty sure I like the look of 20” but 18”s look great too.

One of the reasons for getting the Sport (besides the chrome delete) is the handling with the shocks and sway bars. We have a TRD sport Sequoia and handles noticeably better that are older sequoia. (And coming off an RC350, it’s hard to deal with excessive squish and lean in turns.)

If 18 inch wheels with thicker rubber softens the ride that’s nice, but don’t want to soften the handling. I’m not planning on doing any off-roading, but at dirtbike tracks and trails sometimes get into a little bit of terrain. Seems like 18” wheels might safe a little money?

I’ll be doing some towing, but most likely just a fairly light 16’ enclosed trailer.

Seems like my original 20” plan is the go? Anything to else to consider?

Honestly don't believe all the 20s can't offroad hype. It's bs. In usable sidewall you're talking about a 1 inch difference vs 18s. I offroad my limited with 20s all the time in the mountains of Utah and don't have so much as a scuff on them. I just purchased new wheels and went with 20s again because that's what was on it and I grew accustomed to it. I could not tell a difference in ride quality vs the 18in sr5 I test drove when I bought mine. Towed with them and even offroaded with stock tires too. Pick what you like

Tires I have are 275/60r20 general atx which is a 33. When I replace them I'm going to bump up to a 34. The wheels I just ordered are fuel torque. Don't have them yet but look like this.unnamed.jpg

I love the 20s. I like that setup. I don’t do much off-roading. Just some occasional snow. Thanks for sharing.

The atx are bomb in snow and so far are wearing like iron. They are severe snow rated, and ive had them in unplowed snow as deep as 14 inches no problem.

275/65/20 BFGKO2DT are just fine for pulling the TT around on freeways and fireroads.

How are those General ATX's on the road, pretty smooth? And how is the road noise as compared to like a Toyo AT2?

@waynescorp they are great on road. My tunny is my daily driver and the wear , noise, ride is great! I likely will replace them with atx again when they wear out.

I’m running 20’s with billstein 5100’s and Bfgoodrich 285/60/20. Front and rear TRD sway bars , Ride is smooth and better handling specially when when I hit the curves.

As stated before, 18" for off-road, 20" for mall crawling. I off-road mine on 20"s but that's just because I went with the stock wheels at the time. But when I say "I off-Road mine", it's easy stuff like Imogene and Black Bear on the difficult side.

20" for the looks and 18" for the ride. My previous owner put 20" Rotoforms on my truck before I bought it but I would have gone with 18s if it were my money making the purchase. I accept the rougher ride but I get all the offroad performance I need as well.

I ordered the same size tire in ridge grappler , how much clearance do you have to UCA? Nice rig!

Are you set to top setting in the front?

Not much to add here. Perhaps more tire options with 18", but either should work great on the road. Go with the look you want.

I went from the stock 20's to 18" TRD/BBS wheels on my Sport. I love the handling the Sport suspension provides. The smaller and lighter wheels make for smoother mall crawling:D

I have 20's only because the truck came with them. It was the only way the get BFG KO2s from the factory. Tires were more important to me then rims. I figured when I replaced I would go with a tire that has more sidewall. If I had a choice I would have gone with 18s. I prefer rubber over metal especially on the ranch roads I drive. This is first truck I have owned with anything larger then 16s.
