Hey everyone! My name is Brandon and I've been reading and searching through this forum for a while now getting ideas to build my new tundra exactly how I imagined in my head.

I had an 09 Tacoma trd sport and loved it from the day I bought it. But it was time to upgrade to full size and I wanted 4x4 and a crewmax.

So I ended up ordering a 2016 SR5 crewmax 4x4 5.7l with SR5 upgrade pkg, entune premium and spray bed liner. Everything else I wanted basic since I had plans to change shocks, wheels and stereo later on.
Here is some pictures while she is still stock.

Here's after the Colormatched bumpers and window tint.

    But wait there's more!!!
So after waiting 7 long weeks my truck finally showed up at the dealer. Took it home and was ready to start modding. I had already purchased my king shocks from Micah at downsouth motorsports. Next was my wheels and tires. I went to Discount tire since they have always been good to me and hooked me up. So I ordered the Toyo RT 35x12.5/18. Also ordered the 18x9 +18 Method Grid in titanium color.

So 5 weeks after ordering my wheels I get a call and there still on back order for another 4-8 weeks in +18 offset. But they had 0 offset and the discount guy said he already has them on the way so we can try and see if they fit. I was nervous since everyone is running +18 with the coils I have but figured it was worth a try. I got them put on and it rubbed really bad. They had to put the stock wheels on so I can drive home to do more trimming. I trimmed more than I wanted and still had rubbing on flat ground turning full lock. I did NOT want to cut my metal front bumpers that I just got colormatched!!!
So I called him back and he said they will take the wheels back but we would have to wait until the +18 offset came into stock at method. So here I am 4 weeks later from that day...9 weeks total from original ordering my wheels and still have to wait 3-4 more weeks for the correct offset to be made.

So my question is am I being picky or is the 0 offset (.70") really that big of a difference for clearance. I am a welder/fabricator and have no issues using tools and welders to make this work but I just wanted to do it this the correct way with the +18 offset since that is the look I was aiming towards and don't want to rip apart my new truck any more than the cab mount chop I knew I would need to do anyways.
    Thanks in advance guys!

    Welcome from FL!
Looks awesome man. Excellent choice on wheels, will be well worth the wait no matter which one you choose. Unfortunately, my weakness is on wheel offsets, backspacing, etc. so can't help a ton. I'm with you, I'd try to avoid cutting the front fender.
Someone will chime in soon with some solid advice.

Exactly what I was thinking when I wrote that. Hahah there's always more when building a truck right? BTW @Sean266 thanks for all your input in your build thread. I used a lot of your info during my reaserch. I really like your truck!

    Welcome from south La buddy!

To put it mildly, HELL NO, you're not being picky. It's your truck, build it like YOU want it. Don't settle for convenience EVER. I needed tires about a couple months ago, I really wanted Toyo AT's but no one carried them, I was tempted to go with Cooper StMaxx Pro (a great tire don't get me wrong) or BF AT KO2 (also a great tire) but, I preferred the look of the Toyo's. So I had to wait a couple of torturous weeks for my toyo's to come in versus getting the Coopers or BF's right then. And I'm glad I did.

Truck looks GREAT BTW! Keep the pics coming!

The bumpers got Colormatched by a place named "The Body Shop" in Riverside on vista. I have a friend who lives up there and works near them. He was able to pay them cash and they did it after hours so I could save a few bucks. Original price quote was $950. I removed all the bumpers and grill myself and gave them those pieces individually. That got my price down to $450 for everything. But they also missed clear coat on a small spot on a corner. Guess that's what I get for cutting corners. Other then that spot it looks amazing and 500 times better than the chrome.

Well I decided to just be as patient as possible and wait another 4 weeks again and hope Method can get some +18 wheels in stock. I really like the Grid wheels and can't seem to really love other options. So here's some pictures of the 0 offset I had on my truck for one whole day.

I took them off myself and sent them to a paint shop and they painted with the Toyota color match paint.
Check out my build thread for some more pictures of the process!
