How are the sumos on the front? I had them on my Taco and loved how they reduced body roll, nose dive on braking, and that satisfying "bounce" when they rebound. Not as worried about the rear given bed + payload isn't generally going to compress those over 60%.

However, given how much heavier the Tundra is, I'm concerned that the blue ones could bottom out shocks, etc., on a hard hit in the front

Haven't been able to install yet. They arrived last week but I work out of town and haven’t got back home yet. Will update after I’ve had them on for a few weeks of serious use. (I work in the oilfield and daily drive through some gnarly and treacherous stuff so I feel I will be able to give a decent review)

So I finally had the boat on the back today. What a difference. 8000lb boat, 800 lb tongue weight, truck dropped to roughly level front and rear, not the sagging rear from the first time I towed prior to installing the sumosprings. It was a comfortable ride with it on there, they had sufficient give that it did not jounce or hit hard on bumps, quite impressive. I highly recommend this solution if you tow.

Pics before and after? Ive been debating airbags for towing and heavy loads, but this would be even easier.

Had blue ones on a 15 Tacoma for 6 years. Did great but they did like cold weather. Grated our winters aren’t crazy cold. They got chewed up.

Same, had them on my Taco for nearly 8 years. Have fronts and rears on (back)order, will be a few weeks but once I get them installed, will report back. The Tundra rides and drives far better than the Tacoma (though I'm still getting used to the barge-like turning radius...) but I loved that satisfying "bounce" rebound over bumps and small obstacles and the reduction in body roll and nosediving were incredible with the sumosprings.

If they perform 1/2 as well on the Tundra, will be worth the money, and with a travel trailer in the future, will help minimize sag on the OR billys.

No before pics, but it was heavily squatted. Here it is ‘after’ with about 200 pounds in the bed plus the boat. Angle is misleading, that boat and trailer are 34’ long and 8000 pounds with 800 pound tongue weight roughly.

This OP is curious about sag and improving it… posting how MUCH one tows is irrelevant… the responses should relate to how much the TONGUE WEIGHT is or how much is being carried in the bed.

One could assume tongue weight is roughly 10% of total weight being towed

Sure… but my camper has an 800lb tongue weight and 5200lb dry weight.

ok, 10-15% is optimal. So by saying you towed 5200 we'd guess tongue weight is 500-800lbs. Does the tongue weight make your sag much?

I use a Weigh Safe Drop Hitch and always know my hitch weight I keep my boat at 650lbs and my track car at 450.

I use a BlueOx SwayPro WD hitch, and it rides nice and level... but it sags without it obviously.

So I pulled the boat for about an hour today to storage. Some highway, some back roads, and up over the local mountain pass. The sumo springs made for a surprisingly comfortable ride with the 800lb tongue and 8000lb load. No jouncing, no harshness, just about perfect in every way, and stable. On a side note, I have had 6 new hemi Rams over the past 12 years, and pulled this boat on this path with a few of them. The Tundra handles it better. Torque at lower rpm, the 10 speed never hunted, stopping was controlled. Overall, I would definitely put the Tundra ahead of the Ram for pulling this weight.

Just installed a set on my 2024 1794 and plan on pulling a boat. Thanks for the info was not to bad of an install, (no need to take the wheels off) only tricky part was the screw that sits closest to the spring on the bottom has to be pre installed and started (with and open ended wrench) before the other two are set. but over all not to bad. I have a good haul from PA to VA planned in November so hopefully they work as well as everybody says they do. P.S. the socket and wrench size is 12 MM not 14 for the stock bolts.

ok, so went to install these today. The one bolt does not clear, as you mentioned. Is the only way to make it work is to use the spacers and tighten with a wrench vs a socket?
I was hoping to avoid the spacer, as the gap with spacer is only about half an inch

Use spacer, put bolt in & start that by hand first, then you'll have to use a wrench for that one.

Here's mine installed, I took the wheels off just to have more room, but it's not necessary. There's about 3/4" between top of axle & sumo spring. 20241008_152647.jpg 20241008_152610.jpg
