Anyone use nootropics? The Woman is interested in them and I'll admit I'm curious too. Looking at Onnit's Alpha Brain for me and she's thinking about MCT oil.

In other news, I'm tempted to try out the local Crossfit gym

Having a hard time staying consistent and sticking with a plan. I figure it may help to have someone else set a routine, plus the gym is on my way to work. Biggest hurdles are I don't like loud bouncy music, rap or group workouts...

May be a good idea to try it out! It should help get you into a routine.

I enjoy suffering in my own silence in our garage gym. Group workouts are great but when it comes down to it, mindset to push yourself alone is more valuable.

Don’t you have a good gym setup at the house? If your thinking about going to the local CrossFit gym I’m going to put in another plug for Street Parking. I know I’ll get a plus one from @Stroke250 too. You will save a ton of money over membership fees. I have only stepped into a CrossFit gym once in my life and that was like a decade ago. Just started training like this last November.
I’m about to switch back to primarily Powerlifting but I’m keeping my SP membership for cardio/conditioning days and for my kids.

If it’s the commitment of going and being accountable I get that. Just trying to offer up other possibilities.

Today I’m going to attempt a hammer and wall ball workout I saw last week. As long as my knee doesn’t start crying again.

Edit:the hammer and wall ball idea came from a Mark Bell IG video from last week.

I really need to look at Street Parking again. I seem to remember though some part of it didnt work for me. I'll look again

I have an ok system at home. Rack, plates, barbell, kettlebells and treadmill. High clearance stuff like wallballs isnt really possible due to low ceiling height. Vinyl siding, rental, poor yard layout make using thr side of the house a no go.

I have the same issue with low ceiling heights as well. In fact if I’m doing any standing shoulder press variation I need to watch out for the rafters or use metal 25’s and change plates to clear the press.

I either just do toss straight up and catch outside or sub landmine press’s for the wall balls.

If you want a sample of a days workouts let me know and I’ll send you the program a,b,c to see if it is something you can work with or not.

@Outbound here you go. This was today’s gem in the pain cave. Lol Since you are limited overhead, maybe you can do it outside if weather permits? Let me know if you can’t read my writing.

I’d just take a set of dumbbells or kettlebells and mix body weight exercises in. Plenty of simple stuff to do with a couple weights. @Tracker

I'm in the gym every day. Only one body part per day.

I also commute to the gym on my bicycle. 6 miles one way.

I have been into fitness since the early 90's, I'm 50 now

Nice! I think I can do all that in my home gym. I'll give it a shot for tomorrow's workout. The push press looks similar to an overhead press, which I have room for (thanks to only being 5'5" LOL).

If you prefer the dumbell version instead, it’s 40/25.

And instead of the 2 sets of 12 OH lunges, substitute 20 OH lunges holding 1 dumbbell in right hand and 20 in the left.

We sub barbell thrusters a lot for wall balls. We finally have the ceiling height just haven’t got the target yet.

I see that @Stroke250 got you a sample of I think todays workout. I have a sample of a single day and how Program A,B, and C work.

This is Program A...the DB version.

This is Program B....the Barbell version.

This is Program C...the Bike/Row version and/or the sandbag/slamball version of that days workout.

There are a bunch of other programs daily and weekly along with pull up, double under, and kipping pull up progression workouts as well. There is more but I don't want to overwhelm you all at once.

Im assuming just an empty barbell right? That would work for me too. I love how other people come up with subs that work that I didn't think about. I got the Landmine thruster sub idea from Talia one day on IG.

I am not a leaderboard chaser so if I have to sub something for space/time/height reasons it doesn't bother me. I still end up usually almost dead anyway lol

Correct. Sometimes I’ll be dumb do it with 55 or 75.

I agree. I always sub hop overs for double unders since I can’t string those darn things together.

Find gyms in the area and ask to check out their facility. On work trips I get free and cheap single day or multi day passes

Have you considered DL socks, Those kinda pricy shin sleeve things, or maybe moving the bar forward just a bit? I too get some red marks with socks but not grating my shins or to the point of bleeding.

At least one thing is for sure if your training in a gym less people may want to come up and talk to the guy bleeding and rocking out doing dL so I guess that’s a win .
