:rofl:I was recording sets from my bench day. My daughter wanted to do a video of her with the jump rope. I thought I still have 90 seconds of rest I can get those pictures in. Note it took between 4 sets to get them to load and post in here haha.

    Awesome work @Medging !!!

Great job! Keep up the hard work!

I use Beach Body on Demand at my work's gym or at home. I skip around from Body Beast to the Yoga stuff and I like to run outside.

A bunch of guys I know are doing Lift4. So many great workouts on BOD.

I think PF is just worried you’ll get chalk on your pizza crust :notsure:

By the way when you start your setup those bucket toppers are awesome if you go with a bucket for chalk.

Wouldn’t be surprised....not to mention only judgemental people use chalk LOL

I was thinking of building my own stand/bucket for my chalk. Either in the middle of the floor or bolted to the wall. I gotz plans!!
But I may have to think about the toppers.....good call!

Registered for firefighter physical testing. I need the certificate in order to apply to the academy. Date is March 11. I have 2 months to crank up my cardio. My strength is good but my cardio is lacking some.

Lots of HIIT in my future. Planning to run or bike 5 days a week, swim twice a week and I have a 70lb weight vest ordered up to train on the treadmill and stepmill.

@Outbound i would recommend doing stairs steppers and cardio. I’m not sure what time you have to get to pass but 10 years ago you need to get 10 minutes and 20 seconds to pass your physical test . I was went through the academy and work for fire department for 3 years. Good luck man!

    Thanks guys!

Thanks for the tip. It's still a 10min 20sec time limit. The step mill at 60 steps per minute for 3 minutes with a 70lb vest is my main training concern along with maintaining my wind for the entire event. I'll definitely be hitting the stair stepper at the gym hard.

When do you guys like get your workouts in? Morning or evening? I work 10 hour days, 5 - 6 days a week so I'm going to try to get up at fuck-off-o'clock and crank out at least a 45min workout before I head into the shop. Luckily, I have a gym in my basement. I'll be doing my swimming and step mill stuff in the evenings. Stupid multi-plex doesn't open until 0600 and I have to be at the shop before 0700.

I've heard some people say you burn fat and boost your metabolism alot easier if you train first thing in the morning before really eating anything. Any truth to that?

I'm an early morning or really late at night work out person.

I don't know if working out at a specific time of day boosts metabolism any more than it already would, but it will use fat as energy if you haven't eaten/drank anything else that could be used as energy.

I'm all about burning fat and increasing cardio right now. Sounds like first thing in the morning would be good. Gonna suck, but gotta just do it. I'll likely have a slice of ham and a couple eggs right after the work out just to get myself fueled for the next couple hours until my first coffee break at 0900.

This is the first time I've really focused on nailing down how what I eat and what type of workout I need to do in order to hit a certain goal. Always just kind of tried to eat mostly well, and then trained with whatever workout I felt like be it cycling, weights etc.

Might have to post up my meal/workout plan and let you more knowledgeable guys pick it apart. LOL

From what I've read, if you're going to do fasted cardio, you should go light. If you push too hard (completely winded and out of breath) you'll end up burning muscle/protein as fuel instead of using more fat storage resources. I usually just walk an incline treadmill in the mornings if I decide to do cardio. Works really well. Of course you have to couple that with a decent diet.

Would eating a high protein meal after the workout offset the muscle burning effect?

I'm starting to get my diet under control. I don't eat terrible, but I know I eat to many carbs. I'm switching my rice to brown rice, knocking pasta down to one meal a week etc. I'll be increasing my veggie intake big time as well. One thing I noticed was that when I ate a lot of fruits like grapes, strawberries and blueberries I'd feel bloated and wouldn't seem to drop fat. I'd also get a small sugar crash an hour or so later. Once I cut back on those and increased the veggies, that seemed to go away.

People used to think you needed to time your macros, but now the research is showing that it is not important to eat protein post workout. Instead, it is important to eat enough throughout your day period.

I was going to bring up the Renaissance Periodization and their templates. That seems to be one of those popular science backed programs.....However, I admittedly don't know enough to debate one way or the other about it. I know people that are on it and I have thought about starting it but never pulled the trigger.

I would agree that the research is leaning away from that old school "30 minute anabolic or loose your gains window". I have never gotten that serious with diet other than tracking Macro's and weighing food. I think the majority of people would have more success if they are starting out by learning what a real portion size is rather then worrying about when they need to eat what. If you are past that step then ok but I think some people are trying to sprint before they crawl.

Agreed. The first lesson is what to eat, the second lesson is how much to eat, then you learn the detail sciency stuffs

2015 Silver Sky CM TRD OFF ROAD
Yeah that would help. Good clean protein and good vegetables are the way to go. If you want to maximize the fat burning, don't eat anything from 8pm until noon the next day and do the light cardio in the morning. You'll be in more of a fasted state thus you will burn more of you stored energy.

My wife is up at 4 am and I am up at 4:30. I love working out early. Gets me awake and ready for work.
