Yeah.....we are trying an injection that lubricates the knee and is supposed to help to get the body to start trying to make it itself. If that doesn't work along with the therapy I'll have to do surgery....but that only cleans it up

My little guy just got started with BJJ, he loves it. I am hoping to get started soon so he and I can go over things he is learning during open mat.

I made some nice gains when I tried that. Strength and size wise. Sadly, I had to stop for a while. Got too dangerous using free weights and rest pause. Gym I went to at the time didn't have any power racks and workout partners never stick around long with me. "You're working me out too hard" Pussies.

    Definitely a solid routine

Have you tried HITT cardio? Worked best for me, and definitely more fun seeing as I can't stand cardio!

And that's why i don't have a workout partner....or if its a guy they don't like the fact i can keep up (obviously not the weight they lift....) i think they line the tiny chicks who "need help" lifting. I need a spot every once in a while....i don't need my hand held

Never heard of it. Hoping it works for you!! Keep us posted!

Yeah, I gave up on partners a while ago.

I don't understand that mentality at all. Of course I was born into a family of strong women. (Not the whiny modern feminist crap, but the old fashioned "dont take shit from anybody" "men and women both have strengths so capitalize on those and work on the weaknesses" mindset.)

Dated a lifter a while back, our idea of a "date night out" was a competition between the two of us. Could range from who could do the most squats (50-70% 1rm according to the individual) to who could finish a circuit workout the fastest. We'd be laughing and cursing the whole time. She got me more than a few times. Hey, can't win them all! That honestly made me like her way more than if she was a needy "I can't do this" woman.

Doc can't keep up with me physically but she's got a helluva lot of heart. Not to mention she challenges me mentally. One of the many reasons I married her!

Yeah Law I feel you man. When the weight starts to get up there in numbers things get a little sketchy. My gym isn't exactly full of people who I'd trust sporting 110lb dumbbells either. I love DC though. When I need to give myself a break though I rock the FST7. Same basic principles but less-likely to cave your face in with a dumbbell lol.

And yeah when I run I use the HIIT stuff that my unit uses. Usually 60/90s of if I'm feeling froggy 90/120s.
30 minutes of that and I'm smoked.

The last 3 months I've switched to only calisthenics. At 39, my body feels like it's been thru hell, especially from all the heavy weights and injuries over the years. I've been doing some form of training everyday, even if it's just 30 minutes of stretching. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I started asking myself what am I lifting these weights for if I can't even do 5 pull-ups or touch my damn toes. So I bought this book called convict training (all body weight exercises) and have been watching this channel on YouTube called the red delta project. So far so good. I'm up to 4 good pull-ups, 25 push-ups in a row and almost there on doing single leg squats. I do 5 sets of each 3-5 days a week along with abs and stretching the other days. It took me a while to convince myself this is what I needed, because it's so basic, but I actually get a hell of a workout and it's caused me to be able to do my physical job better.

And the wife approves of this rejuvenated me :dancingbacon:

Stretching and calisthenics are definitely a must at every stage of your life whether it be with heavy weights or not. Always a good idea to lay off the heavy weights for a couple of weeks every couple months to recuperate and let your body (ligaments and tendons/CNS) catch up

Well, trained legs with the owner of Armbrust last weekend. He was able to show me few rings that certainly helped!

All was well until today, and I injured my good knee somehow. To confirm this, I asked the wife "which knee looks swollen?" (not telling her what was going on) she pointed at the good knee. Crap :(

    Some stuff
Used to be heavy into TKD. My oldest and I went together. That faded with the work travel so now here's what I do. I miss the sparing and form sessions though. Great stress relief and an awesome flow state. If I could find the time, I'd start training in kendo.

    - 30-45 min of yoga, 5 mornings a week
    - 20 min stretch session every evening in front of the tv
    - Ride bike 10-13 hours a week. Road or dirt. Not caring about the weekly mileage as much as the workout quality. 1 day a week, I do a long ride. Usually 2.5 - 3.5 hours.
    - Dec, Jan & Feb the ride hours go down while the skiing and hiking hours go up

At 44, my top end sprint speed is slipping but my endurance is going up. Took a bit to get used to but I'm okay as my racing days are long gone. With all the sitting on my ass, I really try to keep the hips and lower back limber hence all the yoga. I also got off all meat and bread. We do a mix if vegan/vegetarian and fish.

Up to a good weight (heaviest I've ever been). Sadly, I'm at the cutoff BF% where I need to slim down to 9-10%.

I'm going to forego heavy squats and deadlifts this time around and go for KB step ups, lunges, 70% 1rm deadlifts and ISO leg presses to give my tendons time to catch up to the strength gains I've seen these past few months.
Going to incorporate some heavy bag work also. We'll see how it goes!

How long do you cut for?

Average for me is 6-8 weeks. Gives me plenty of time for turkey day!

Depends how aggressive I want to be as I can drop weight quickly. With no competitions in mind, I'll most likely take my time.

    Too many to list
Front squats. I hated every single one of those sets. I started reading about how it really works your core and quads. Followed a program by Christian Tribs and I am seeing some great results in the last 6 weeks.

It's funny that I focus on the lower body workouts (love doing deadlift variations and front squats) more than upper body but I see some great results all over.
