I'll take it easy on him, as I don't want him to suffer where he will be discouraged from continuing to train. He wants to do arms and chest. That's easy.

So what you're saying is that by Saturday he won't be able to wipe his a$$ from how sore he'll be? Got it

That's cool, the weight loss. Sorry about the knees. I wish I could do that, but not something I can sustain to keep wight down. So I decided to go high protein, good fats + vegs and less bad carbs. Working out 2X per day (cardio AM, weights PM). Haven't lost much weight, but running faster, lifting more weight and clothes fitting better. I figured this is something I can maintain vs rapid weight loss (tried it but weight comes back for me twice as fast this way). Keep up the weight loss!

He flaked. I had a small hunch that was going to happen. Re-scheduled to next Wed. Last chance and I'm done with helping him. I usually take Thursdays off from the gym and changed up my regiment this week to cater to him.

Hate when that happens. I've learned never to change up my regimen from this very thing happening once too many times. I tell them when I'm working out whatever they want to work out and they're free to join me at a certain time (I will change up times depending on what's going on that day) . If not, they can either wait a week or work out what I'm hitting the next time. Makes no difference to me.

Eases a lot of stress and frustration when they end up bailing.

Lift extra heavy, eat a big ass post workout meal and blow off that steam bud.

Nah. I wasn't going to put him through my regiment. He may end up being discouraged and smoked after a few sets. Trust me, I was going to limit his rest time, add some supersets, drop sets etc. just to test his endurance and see if he'll quit...but he's not me and may quit or give up.

1st of the 3 free meals begins tonight. Prob have the wife make some pasta with chicken followed by pancakes.

I usually put my rookies through a watered down version of what I put myself through. I keep it basic, straight sets, 1 min rest time, light weight.

LOL one time me and this newb were doing back and triceps. Got to doing dips, I got him on the assisted dip/pull-up machine and got on the dip bars that were next to his machine, strapped on 2 plates, told him to go for 10 reps with 60(?) lbs of assistance. We both cranked out 10, I still had some in the tank so I dropped the belt and cranked out another 10. He just looked at me and said "now I know why you let me come....just to show me how much of a pussy I am!" Had to explain to him why I was lifting heavier and more intensely than he was. He accepted it and stuck with it for a few months but haven't seen him in the dungeon for a couple years....and another one bit the dust.

Nice!! Sounds like the right ticket! Don't you love free meals!?!?!
Usually set aside one whole day for free meals unless it's date night with the doc, then I go with a 3-4 free meal setup.

I have a buddy who has been doing the same workout for the past 3 years. He doesn't like changing things up. Last week I almost got him to do one of my workouts, I'm gunna try again next week haha. I didn't change up my lifting schedule for him though, then I would have been bummed.

Some friends of mine do the body beast workouts. I did the cardio one with them one day to do something different. It kicked my butt!

    Switching it up is great.

I like working out alone. My pace and no chit chat to slow me down. I have had too many partners pull a one timerely. It's fun to watch them try to show me up or they find something like seated calf raises to beat me in and then brag about it lol.

I used to like working out alone. Now I get too distracted by other stuff during my rests bc on just sitting there. With my buddy at least on spotting and watching him and changing plates and stay ready for the next set.

I bought a GymBoss timer to keep me rest periods consistent and the proper length. I picked it up on Amazon pretty cheap, it is the size of a real small pager and can vibrate or beep, or both, when your set time is up.

That would work but my ADD says "check on tundras.com" and then the beeper goes off and I say "well just lemme finish reading this" and then 15 threads later im ready to go home lol.

Plus helping/watching someone else workout keeps my mind in the zone

Gotcha, everyone has their own method, as long as it works. After the beep for me there's no excuses haha. I watch the countdown so I am already to go by the beep.

Felt like changing it up a tad. Instead of floor deads, I opted for Meadows variation of rack deads. Pull from mid shin but only come 3/4s of way up squeezing lower lats hard. Keeps constant tension on lower lats and erectors. Need to go lighter than regular rack deads.

Since my calves are stubborn SOB's today I decided to implement quasi single calf raises as I walk my dog everyday. Shooting for 1,000 total (500 each calf) reached that just now and man are my calves PUMPED. I'll be doing this over the next three months and gauging how they respond.

Got some weird looks, but they just jelly!!

If you aren't already, add some standing calve presses s/s with seated calve presses.

Rogue is legit. This was a good beer too. $13 for a 6 pack though

The dog walk raises are only supplementing my current calf workouts. I obviously need to put them through more torture since they aren't following orders LOL

Eh...that's around what I usually shell out for a sixer. Better than some that are upwards of 20 bucks! And cheaper than a bar...worth it LOL
