Bump.. A few really good PMs... More regional or CA specific. Remember, if you intend to buy a weapon in California you will need the following :

CA ID or DL (If federal limited, a passport or birth certificate)
Firearms safety certificate (good for 5 years, $25), CA requirement, 30Q test
Car Registration (preferred× if address conflict or residence needs to be verified)
A hunting license, water or gas bill, deed, or rental agreement over 30 days also verifys address.
Some requirements can be pushed to the back end of the DROS (10 days thru 29 days)
One weapon per 30 days... Rifles included effective Jan 2021.

Remember to try firearms before you buy one based on movies, aesthetics, reputation etc. Gun ranges commonly rent.

Sharp.... Thanks alot, now I'm wanting the Socom 16 Model. Lol

Slightly off topic but I'm looking at those triggers.... Seen any CMC/Timney or equivalents floating around for our 14 friends? Any success with trigger jobs in the 14?

Without getting political, NOT AT THE MOMENT. I haven't seen the industry brace up in anticipation.

I’ve been staying up on the honey badger issue. I do want a honey badger, not as much now cause of the SBR requirement. Need to see if this spills into arm brace issues as I have a few.

    So.....

When do we see Ammo go down? Will we start seeing cheap imported Ammo again from Europe and Middle East?

Just checking in and letting you know those of us in MA are living under some pretty draconian laws regarding Modern Sporting Riflestoo. Heck we even have an off the books Glock ban on anything Gen 3+

We are already seeing English 9mm (sellier/bellot) and Russian made 7.62x39.so nothing new. Turkish shotguns are being imported thru California.

Prices and availability will return after election and when everyone returns to work.

I'll keep my eye open for Tundras.. I'm pretty faithful to the Tacoma crowd too. I do enjoy a clean 1st or second gen with a story to tell. Give yourself some time, if everyone is taken care of, conversation can get long.

I've always wanted to get a nice wood furniture ak. I built a 7.62 AR that is by far my favorite to shoot.

We only really receive US manufacturered AKs normally. Occasionally a Eastern Block/Ukrainian or equivalent rolls in and is quickly devoured. Most return them to their original and pirated status and they become safe queens. Unfortunate. They are hardy rifles. Odd charging handle location for me personally. Accuracy is good but I've never been as proficient as the AR. Perhaps it's upbringing.

I've looked at them through atlantic firearms online, they seem to be ca friendly. How are the US Ak's?

They are just ok. They function fine. You know that feeling you get when you sit in a classic muscle car with the original interior, cowl intake, etc... The machine smell.... Like you've been transported into the late 60s early 70s? You just exhale and think dammit Jim.

Original AKs are alot like that. Galil or Armalite/Colt can do the same thing.... But their is something special about the originals.

Ever shoot one DA/SA pistol well and the other brand low left? Return to the fundamentals. Proper grip is a good start! If your old, you may have to modify some things a tad. Training does evolve. Get rid of the speed monkey.

I’d be weary if American Made AKs. I did my research with American made guns and at the time (2016-2018) Century Arms made AKs had trunnions cracking issues. IO AKs, I wouldn’t trust to last a few 000s rounds. With the amount of money you are paying. I’d go with an eastern country built AK. From my research, I bought the NPAP and WASR to shoot and VEPR to look. I would go with one of the brands below.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1c4Ptcp6YvA

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FcTRirjTBkA

If you want cheap and reliable. I’d go with a WASR 10 or NPAP. If you have deep pockets then VEPR, Saiga, or Arsenal.

here in Tn at least at my shop we don't have an ammo shortage on most calibers. you just have to be willing to pay the price tag for it.

Thanks for the info. Ive been close to pulling the trigger on a WASR before. Seems like a good price point for them.

This is what I like about gun stores, ranges, and country wide conversations concerning firearms. Alot of information..from builds to buys..
