@Squatting Pigeon , So now that you've had it for a bit, what is your overall opinion? Any pros / cons you'd like to share? I'm still looking around a bit and trying to decide if I could handle the ride. And as you know, with them being rare, it's not likely that I'd get to drive one before buying. I guess ideally, they'd release some Lexus version of it so I could have some performance and "old man ride" at the same time. Heh

Been cross shopping this with the Elantra N (I know - Hyundai - but they get some pretty good reviews) and Gulf R. Saw the comparison that Car and Driver did between the GR Corolla, Gulf R, and Civic Type R, but it would be nice to get data from an actual owner too!

I have no real qualms, but this is a weekend fun car. If it was a daily, my smaller qualms would turn larger

    Cons:
Storage - there is zero, not even a center console.
Ride - it’s harsh, you feel every single bump. BUT I find the seats to be very supportive so I feel like that helps.
Space inside - you can never actually have a full sized human in the back seat, it’s really only there for small children and as a bit of a joke.

    Pros:

Power - there is a boatload of power, and this thing wants you to use it.
Traction - the AWD system and stock tires are STICKY
Fun - it’s an absolute blast to drive, hands down. And this outweighs any con for me large or small that I come up with.

If ride quality is a large concern, this isn’t the car to go after. I’ve heard the Golf R is more comfy to spend time in, but haven’t confirmed that. The Elantra N is a solid machine too, but I really wanted a hatch.

I hope that helps, and if you have any specific questions, let ‘em rip!

Check out the Veloster N too if they still make it. I think it won car of the year a couple years ago.

Thanks for the update! I had no idea that the GR Corolla back seat is THAT small. I don't anticipating car-pooling with one, but I do have 3 younger kids that would want to come along and zip around with me while I'm out corner carving... I am guessing that may be a tight fit for even those 3.

Apparently the Veloster N was discontinued after 2022. They do have the Kona N (hatch / compact utility vehicle?), which is intriguing, but no manual available. Plus, from reviews, it seems that the Kona N rides really rough compared to the Elantra N. (Haven't tried either one out yet as I wanted to focus my search before wasting time at dealerships.)

Everyone says that the DSG's in the Gulf R and the Hyundai's are better than the respective manuals that are available, but I thought for a "fun" car, a manual would be a bit more interesting. One down side to the Hyundai line is how reliable it will be for the long term. I am reasonably confident that the GR Corolla will still be running in 10 years, but not quite as sure on the Hyundai's. They do have a 10 year warranty though, so maybe that makes up for the difference in quality (perceived or real) that may exist. I'll keep looking and if I do make a purchase, I will let ya'all know.

I would definitely buy a manual if possible.

I had my Kia for almost 11 years and didn't have a single problem with it.

I’ve yet to get the tires to break loose 100%. Damn thing is sticky as hell, even in 70:30 mode!

I got the CG regular hose cannon. It does okay, but the one what works with my pressure washer lays down some nice suds.

No the core is only offered in black white and red.
The higher trims offer a gray color though.
