Service King took pics of all external damage and then started tearing it down to get a good estimate. Not sure if the dealer will do that. I'd find a highly regarded body shop if it were me.

Sorry to say you are kinda screwed when it comes to pre loss. My tundra got hit a month after I bought it. The truck was fixed with all oem parts, I nit picked every tiny detail to make sure it was perfect. The truck looked like new BUT the part that angered me is when I go to sell it it will show it was involved in an accident on the Carfax! I know I check Carfax for any purchase of vehicles and if a collision is shown I'm out regardless of how it looks. You don't know what the accident was or if it was fixed properly vs cosmetically.

Yeah, that's the shit part. But at least it's not a huge banger. Which is why I'm gonna be a dick and go for full bed replacement. That would be pre loss enough for me.

Here in CT, it is no fault insurance. No matter what happens, your insurance covers your car. Then your insurance goes after the other only if there is a citation that designates the cause to be their responsibility. Anyway it goes, your rates go up... Unless you have "accident forgiveness" and you get one go free without a rate hike.

Sorry to see that happen to you. Once you start, make sure the shop is VERY VERY thorough and you'll be fine. Good luck.
Don't forget, everything about new vehicles are designed to "crumple and move" for safety... Any hit can cause small misalignments that will be hard to see at first!

Yep, which is why I called my insurance, GEICO and let them know. But, I have already contacted SAFECO, her insurance, and started a claim. Fuck that noise.

Fortunately no "no fault" here in CO. Wasn't my fault. No affect on my rates.

Me too! Love the truck and with young kids and more important bills, I'll be driving this truck for a Looooong time! I've always been anal with upkeep on my vehicles so as long as Toyota quality does it's job I'll do mine.

Don't forget about diminished value, since your truck is damaged its worth less than it was before.

Yeah... I did the same except my insurance is with Met Life and other party was with Progressive. I let Met Life handle everything. Quite pleased. It should go well for you. A pain in the ass though.

That sucks- I’d be pretty nervous about getting it repaired properly too. As others have said- find a really reputable shop. That’s at least 2-3g repair. I got a quote on a little dimple on the rear corner of my 17 taco and a tiny crease going into the rear panel behind the wheel. Reputable garage said over 1,000 due to the labor of fixing the panel, bumper parts, decals, etc. Their biggest concern was making sure they could match/fade the silver sky paint in with the rest of the truck. Said that is very difficult color, numerous coats, etc. Good luck man, and keep us posted.

Dang. Sorry to hear this. I’m finding there are a lot more bad drivers than I remembered here in Texas. And I was just yesterday thinking about how parking lots seem a lot smaller now that I am rolling a Tundra.

A reputable body shop can properly repair that and match the paint no problem. Someone backed into the front passenger side corner of my 17 Silver Sky in December and my local shop, whom I have known the family for years, fixed it and matched the paint with no issues. Funniest part was it went through their insurance company who estimated the fix at $233 while my shops estimate was $2,200. Guess which one wound up being the accurate one? My repair was the front bumper cap and bump bar that was bent, so it doesn't take much to add up on vehicles these days. The shop also did our metallic white MDX a few years back when someone sideswiped it when parked, and that was supposed to be a tough paint to match. Came out great. Just need to use someone that knows what they are doing.

Agreed (above) -- had a job done on my hatchback years ago on full replacement bumper on a paint color that was specific to only 1550 cars in N. America. They brought in a guy from the actual paint company to do the match on an entirely new front bumper section -- it turned out color matched perfection.
Also in my professional life just be aware (as I'm sure most are) in my state if u hit a car on private property (assuming you're sober, have a license, and weren't driving like a maniac) there's no ticket -- leave the scene and get caught... Jail time, big bond, 6 points. Easy decision for people with a functional brain.

Sorry to hear about this. That’s a real bummer.
Once your truck goes into the shop, check on it often and nitpick the hell out of anything that you don’t like. The shop may hate this, but once it’s given back to you, they’re done and you have to live with anything that might show up in the future.

In Texas you can take it to whom ever you want. Through the years I have found someone that does custom work seem to do a better job. Looks like three to four day and 2500 give or take. Deminished value is a b@@ch to go after, if you want to do that read up on it and figure out how to do it yourself because an attorney will charge you and probably tell you it ain’t worth the time and trouble. Good luck and it sucks that it happened!!

I just created an account just so I could help out a little, I see your from Texas, I actually worked at a Toyota dealership as a body tech for a bit between Dallas and Fort Worth. From what I see your going to need a new rear bumper assembly, maybe a hitch, and around 5-8 hours of body work on the right bedside depending on how much it's bowed out. But shouldn't have to have the right bedside replaced so that's good lol.
It's been a long time since I've worked at Toyota so I can't remember all the prices but the bumper assembly can run $500-$1500 I think if it's not "reman", then you've got 5Xbody labor rate, then paint prep, then paint. Expect around $3,000-$5,000

Yeah good luck with that. I’m still fighting the insurance company. They want to give me $1000 for diminished value. Car dealers say you lose 15-20% on trade in. They’re trying to say it’s only cosmetic. Yes it is but it will still lose 15%. What a pain.

Then expect another $500 right off the bat maybe another $1000-$2000 if depending on if it has to go on a frame machine and be bolt down to pull the bedside out just a hair, if a slide hammer doesn't work.

Can't see anything from the wheel pics. Look for gouges in the tread or chips on the wheel. If it did get hit you might need a RR hub or maybe your axle housing brackets got bent. RR corner of frame might be even be tweaked a lil, doubtful but since I can see it in person you cant rule it out.
