...while getting my hair cut. Taiwanese lady hit me while trying to park her Nissan rogue next to me. She bailed. I called cops just to get it in paper and she showed up taking responsibility. Quite surprised actually. Poor woman was bowing and crying while apologizing

Her family is trying to get me to take personal payment for repairs. Said no dice. This may be expensive.

So. I'm not looking for a hack job repair either. And I think she hit the rear wheel as well as it looks off, versus the other. And drove with some vibration.

Anywho. Tell me what ya think.

Dang, that sucks. I had a teenager back into the side of my '06 Tacoma last year (basically reverse T-boned me). His dad wanted to go around insurance and I was fine with that but then they started avoiding my calls. I said screw it and turned it into my insurance. I was going to do them a favor but got tired of waiting to hear from them. The guy admitted fault and the whole process went smoothly after that. I actually just kept the money since my truck was older and the damage wasn't too bad.

At least she came back - I'd say you are lucky there. I assume the cops didn't show since this was private property? Mine happened in the Chic Fil A parking lot with cameras everywhere. Cops didn't care since it was private but I made sure my insurance company knew the approximate time of the accident so they could get the video, if needed. Good luck!

Totally sucks. Not too surprised about the personal payment offer. Was and is quite common in Asia including Japan.."gomen money" and typically a lot more than actual damages. Definitely sucks.

Actually cop showed. As she was writing down details the lady pulled up and took responsibility. The damage to her car is dead center on her hood and front end. Lol. She missed that turn hard. The lady took full responsibility. I had to hug her because she was bowing and crying so much.

She had an International DL. Cop told her she has 3o days to get a Texas one. Gave her a pass I guess.

The family she is with, Taiwanese had it insured with Safeco and she is listed as operator. We have a few plants in our area that are owned by Taiwanese. I work for one. Lol. May get fired now since I got a claim rolling on their policy.

Any idea how to get this fixed so I am 100 percent pre loss condition? My truck sits 5 days a week have had it since October 2017 and just broke 9400 miles. I am not accepting a hack job and bondo

    Flux capacitor!
Sorry to hear about your Tundra. Glad to hear she at least came back to take responsibility. This may a good time to go with an aftermarket rear bumper. Hopefully you can get your truck repaired correctly and back on the road soon.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Dang!

I don’t think she should be driving. That wasn’t a rub, she smacked into your rear end. Is she blind! Does she have insurance?

That’s looks like the body shop can bend out the back bumper area and light bondo the corner under the tail light?

Definitely a new rear bumper bracket and cap on right rear side.

I would be so pissed! Sorry you gotta deal with this.

I had similar damage to my Tundra. Bumper pushed into the bed side panel. Side panel was completely replaced.

Fuck that. Not accepting bondo. There is a big wrinkle on rear of bed where bumper pushed it in. And tail gate wont open. I want my truck to be same exact condition before she Mr.Magoo'd my baby. Lol. Yeah she had insurance. Already got it going. Just have to wait. Also. My right rear tire doesnt look as straight as the left.

The bed had to come clear off. Side panels are spot welded on. Body shop removed damaged side panel and spot welded a new one on. My Tunny is a 07 and they still did all that labor.

I got rear ended on the opposite side like you. Was about $2500 in damage with paint and everything. Make sure they send it to Toyota to recalibrate the cross traffic sensor in the rear quarter panel.

@netranger6. Sorry to hear that man. It’s definitely sucks for your new truck and poor to the woman as well. Mine happened the same way couple months ago. At first the insurance estimates just replaced a bracket and repaint one side but after they taking the bumper apart my towing thing was bent and ended up replaced that as well. You never know from just looking from the outside. I’m glad I went through his insurance and got it taken care of. Good luck man.

Did it all look factory in the end? Paint included? This is a silver metallic, so it's more than one pass paint.

I'm having Toyota take the initial look. They can't do body work, but they can tell what's good or bad better than most I suppose. It's probably cheaper to just replace the bed?

That sucks, hope it all gets straightened out. Your passenger rear is probably fine though, unfortunately that's how our trucks come from the factory .o_O

I had my insurance take care of everything with the other parties insurance. I used my insurance 's preferred shop and emphasized I wanted all new OEM parts. I was "in the driver's seat". Not my fault like you.

Side panel removal is quite easy for a decent shop.

reason I suspect, is if you notice the paint mark from her Nissan, above the bumper on the rear panel. That impact is dead center from her hood. Her front end it about 4 or 5 feet wide. Wide enough to tap the rear tire on the left rear.
