guess ill crawl under this weekend and pin it. leaving thurs to go up to oregon but not towing this time. towed over the summer up there and a few times trans temps got pretty damn hot

 

Shot another email to the aussies to find out about the billet converter details. If I don’t hear back I’ll give them a call.


Will ask if they have a gold paint option for the transmission lol

 

Looking for an unobtanium 12mm thin wall deep 3/8 socket to get the BMW head off took these pics:

43 ambient, after 5 start stops 154 trans, 174 coolant 69 intake.


Northern discontinued it, offered a thick wall similar to one I have that can't get in there, the cams are hollow & I really don't want to touch them, they break easily.

 

What app are you using to display trans temp on HU? And which OBD device? Need this asap. My torque app on my unit won’t show me trans

 

It's a Kenwood HU running off a Maestro. It scans PIDS & displays 99% of the gauges, freaking TPMS keeps failing, it works for over a year then something happens & it's gone. I have a rear door open (when it's not) error driving me crazy so have disconnected the battery a few times & lost TPMS again

 

It’s a nice display. I have dasaita but it’s android so it’s I can display whatever when not in CarPlay mode. So it’s maestro app connected via bt to your obd plug in?

 

Look forward to hearing what they have to say. Shipping info too...

 

Where will I find the tranny stat?

 

I use wireless carplay but the Maestro does it's OBD2 thing independently of that (and Android auto)

 

hows that dasaita working? only thing im worried about is my xm radio and of course i still use cds now and then

 

Yeah, I may need to message them and request they do a stock AB60 and a AB60 with only the valve body done for comparison, I'd like to see how they differ.

I had a regular Kenwood for a year because I thought I wanted CDS never used it. Big screen it the way.

I was going to say you can chuck it up in a lathe and make your own thin wall. But not sure if it will hold up to the torque needed for the heads.

 

I run the same setup - a Kenwood in the sequoia, a Pioneer in the tundra. Both with iDatlink Maestro. They have worked great for years.

 

I’m gonna wait until mid January and think on which to go with, and then order a valve body by then. I may give the aussies my business. They just seem to have a top notch facility and a lot of AB60 knowledge. It’s a 2 week lead time, and I think they want the core back within 2 months. I’m tentatively scheduled to have the gears and VB done mid February, so don’t want to be sitting on it too long as far as the core charge. I’m between them and IPT currently.

 

Curious if any 2007-2008 owners ever solved when vsc/nannies are all off it will only shift up to 3rd? I've been driving around in alsd for years. I forgot about this issue. I have to shift to S mode upshidft to 4th then back to drive. Operates fine afterwards except if I peel out.
Got the new LSD in and reminded myself that I have that issues. It only affected a few of the early 2nd gens..
I have a newish ecu/4wd ecu.

 

Was gonna say the same. I have a handful of sockets that are mega thin lathe mods

I didn't know this was an issue, but that's pretty consistently how my truck acts and I always attributed it to some weird shit the OV Tune did. I have the auto traction disabler thing, and have to always be in S mode and then switching over let's it upshift, though sometimes forgets.

I'll have to try enabling traction control and see if that fixes the shifting getting stuck, even though I'll never drive it like that

 

The early 2nd gens were cursed with the stuck in 3rd shift with nannies off and the transfer case fork disengagement causing the truck to roll. It still amazes me Toyota never corrected it or someone got killed from it rolling free.

 

Unfortunately, I am laithless. lol

 

I've used a flapper sander but try not to overheat...things you do in a pinch.

 

WTF really?? This is all news to me and both issues I have and no one else seems to ever have that's good to know both of those aren't something wrong with my truck, or at least not one off weird issues only I have!

 

Probably about my timeline also or later no real rush since I have slew of suspension parts and other crap coming.

 

I have 2 coming tomorrow that might work & another the 16th-20th that I know will, I really wanted the head off today but it is what it is.

I've had it on video brought/sent posts from others to Toyota and...nothing.

 

The first socket came & worked! Canceled the rest.

5 of the 14 are out, the rest will fall out when the head comes out.

 

Never heard of this before either. Glad my 08 doesn't have either issue.
