Makes me think they did a soft-rollout of the recall. Besides that introductory notice they sent out in March, I hadn't heard anything else about it.

Did your dealer ask you to run the fuel low before bringing it in?

    Fuel Pump Recall Update

I have a 2017 Flex Fuel Tundra and last month it was showing signs of not getting enough fuel via lag when gassing the pedal and not starting right away when turning the key.

Took it to my good friend who happens to be the lead mechanic at the Toyota dealer. As of last month they don’t have all the new fuel pumps. However they are updating the software on your truck computer so that the current pumps work like they are designed.

If you are getting a pump swap the dealer will ask you to come in almost empty. So that they can drop the tank.

If the dealer is upgrading the software only they will have you bring it in and not mention bringing it in empty.

If you continue to have problems and had the update they will give you a loaner until they get the new replacement pump. I think they are doing it this way until they get caught up on delivery of the new pumps and working on the ones who Desperately need a pump First.

Made an appointment for mine on the 14th. MyToyota profile showed remedy available. Might want to check this. Dealers may not be in a hurry to jump on this.

Fuel pump and front turn signals recall done on my 2018 Tundra on Aug 14th, took the dealership a few hours. So far truck is running well if not better ( probably all in my head ) also front turn signals are definitely brighter.

Dropped mine off this morning at 7:05am, the turn signal recall didn’t apply to mine because I have leds. Still waiting for pickup call, but notice there wasn’t that many new cars for sale on the lot at the dealership. Was kind of weird actually no tundras at all on the lots

No customers in the dealership either when I took my truck in for service in July. I'm glad I waited outside for my wife to pick me up or I might have been stampeded by desperate salesmen.

I dropped mine off...after a ton of BS on the front collision issue and the trailer disconnected error with the dealer...went to pick up the truck and they said they couldn't do the fuel pump because I had 3/4 of a tank. I got home that day and in the mail was the recall where it said the fuel level will not matter to do the work. This is the 3rd poor experience with this dealer. Will not go back

I have an ‘18 and my V.I.N is not on the list. Interesting how some don’t have the recall while others do. Are there really any differences in the pump they use for a model year or is just a soft rollout.

Possibly lost DAP tune when I got my pump replaced...

I was having cold start issues earlier in the year. It would crank, but acted like it was getting no gas. Eventually, I brought it into the dealership and they determined the fuel pump was bad and they said they were getting many in for the same issue. My replacement finally came in a few weeks ago and I dropped my Tundra off at the dealership on Thursday for the replacement. When I went to pick it up at the end of the day, they told me they ran a health check and "found some codes" so they reprogrammed the engine ECM/PCM as well to clear the codes and told me it should be as good as new again. I did not tell them it was DAP tuned as I didn't want warranty void issues. Drove away from the dealership and I could immediately feel a difference in the truck. Feels like I lost some HP, response time, etc... Maybe it's just me, but I am sure the tune is gone. I emailed Shrek a few days ago on it, still waiting on a reply.

Does DAP come with a programming box so you can revert back to stock before going to the dealer like a Bullydog? Just wondering.

Why not just install a Underground Racing pump and not worry about having any issues in the future? I understand that the recall is zero cost but for $200 plus install, it seems like it would be just easier than waiting 2 months for Toyota to get them in stock. Plus the URD units have external fuel filters for easier maintenance.

The remote tuning he sends you does. But, mine was done in person on one of his road trips so I did not get one.

Got mine done today and drives as good or better. No issues. In fact I did have an odd TSS light in the last few weeks thats now gone. I know those dont seem related but someone else mentioned the same thing in the very first post of this thread, so I thought Id let people know mine seems fixed also now. I though because I bedlined my grille that it was causing TSS issues but maybe that wasnt the cause afterall. Not sure how a fuel pump related to the TSS system lol.
Also for the record I had a half tank of fuel when they did it.

Had my 2018 Tundra, done a few days ago. Dropped off with just over a 1/4 tank, no issues, took about half a day to fix, picked up Truck with no issues or any damage to vehicle, runs great. My local dealership treated my Tundra with TLC. I’m quite sure all we be fine for you.

Westbrook....three times....all three times, they jerked me around. They didn't even rotate the tires. The hysterical statement they said to.me was on the "trailer disconnected" alert. They called me and said the road tested the truck and did not receive the error. I asked, did you pull a trailer? Then they told me I was pulling to big of a trailer. I said, the truck is capable of towing 11k. I was pulling a small trailer when it happened. It just so happened, when they called, I had the TSC trailer disconnect bulletin on my computer screen
They were unaware. They updated the trialer software and changed the oil. The other 4 things they said they couldnt find or do.

Check all the hoses on the fuel tank before leaving dealership. The "mechanic" did not reinstall filler neck to tank and when I went to fill truck the gas was just pouring all over the ground. Fixed myself because did not want them touching my truck again.

I get some slight surging as well until the truck is fully warmed up. Not sure if it’s the fuel pump or something else but I may do the upgrade just for piece of mind.
